Fallen out with best friend over what DH did

Sorry have name-changed because of the subject matter but basically I have been wiped out of my best friend's life because DH wiped shit on her bathroom wall and she's taking it out on me too. I'm upset with the pair of them but feel trapped because I can't talk to my DH about her and vice versa so feeling very much in the middle right now. Don't know which way if forward.

You have no choice but to side with your friend on this one. Perhaps you could invite her to yours, get her to smear shit on your walls and get the DH to clean it up and ask him if he can now see why you friend was upset? Or put him on the naughty step. Was it an accident? And how much shit are we talking about? An accidental smear (?) or a proper 'art' job?
