Just curious to see other peoples thoughts and opinions!....

Can a friendship between a man and a woman be completely platonic??

Yep - absolutely know that it's possible. Lots of male friends, close, with no suggestion of anything else. And I'm not ugly Grin

Hassled - so you are NOT platonic. You snogged. Harry rests his case.. proven right

We snogged - but no real sexual desire. We were there, we were drunk, we could. It was studenty snogging. Harry is still wrong.

Harry was demonstrably right... the sex thing was out there

if you mean - can a man and a woman be long term friends without actually having sex - yes.

if you mean - can a man and a woman be long term friends without sex attraction / tension ever coming into it? - the answer is still yes.

Esp. if they're gay.

Yes of course. But with boundaries if one or the other is in a monogamous partnership. As long as the friendship isn't secretive, there isn't physical chemistry and intimacies normally reserved for one's partner aren't being shared, those friendships can be enriching and life-enhancing.

However, it isn't just unreasonably jealous partners that cause these lovely friendships to come unstuck. Unfortunately, since a huge number of affairs start from something that was "just a friendship", self-delusion is as big an enemy, as unreasonable jealousy.

I also hate gender separations on nights out UQD.
