How do you organise a phone conversation with someone you meet on the internet?

Been on a dating website for a bit now. I have been contacted by a few nice guys and have exchanged emails. Now what?! One guy gave me his number and he seems nice and normal. Do I text him? But then he'll have my number, won't he? Is that dangerous? Oh man, it's a bit complex. I could phone him on my landline and withhold my number, I suppose. Just wondering if there is some system that is generally recommended for this kind of thing? And where is it best to set up the first meeting? And is it ok to see more than one guy?!
Any advise much appreciated!
Thanks

*Obviously different dates for different guys. I'm not planning on having more than one guy at the same date...though that would save time and make for better comparisons I suppose Wink

You could always buy a pay-as-you-go phone just for contacting him (them), then they won't know your 'real' number.

And of course it's OK to see as many blokes as you want.

I believe it's known as 'playing the field' Grin

If you don't talk to them, you can't tell what they're like.

If you don't talk to them, you can't meet them.

If they have your mobile number, there's not much they can do with it (if they're not nice) as you can block them.

If they sound nice and normal, give them your mobile number or send them a text when you have their numbers.

Do you realise how rare 'nice and normal' is??? Grab him fast!

Cool - ok. Good advise. Thanks! So it is possible to block numbers? Righto. Might text him tomorrow then...Rather nerve wracking isn't it?

Phone him from your landline withholding your number.
You may be surprised and talk away for hours
Or that was what dh and I did 16 years ago when a friend of mine gave him my number!!

I love that story mollymax! You just never know, do you?
Thanks

You certainly never know
My friend was amazed we actually hit it off
We were married 9 months after that first conversation :)

I set up a new email address when I started on-line-dating, with my maiden name. I made sure that if they googled me they couldn't find me because my current name is too ridiculously track-down-able on google. I'm sooooo glad I did, because I've only met morons since trying on-line dating.

Buy a cheap sim card and use that number.
Good luck with the online dating experience!

Excellent advice, and not only for online dating. Everyone should have an anonymous email addy for general web use.
