Radio 2 on Sunday mornings

Isn't it shit?

I need something else to wake me up on Sunday. By the time the alarm comes on, Mo Dutta has almost finished and we are into Aled Jones and his fucking pious god-slot.

I don't mind Aled himself too much but some of his guests really are irritating feckers, especially that Chick geezer, who this morning informed us that "Jesus loves me, this I know/Because the Bible tells me so" was "profound". Er, no, it isn't. It's like something a 5-year-old would write.

i know mmj, tis sad isnt it

bythepowerofgreyskull · 24/11/2008 18:20

I miss parky as well..
I don't mind Aled and part of me likes the smush that is on Steves love songs.. but if Chris Evans had a Sunday morning show as well, I know I would love it more.

Grabshelldude · 24/11/2008 20:20

Yes, yes, yes to more Chris Evans. Think he's great.

MMJ, I know the "Lost Loves" are soo sad. Just wonder what happens to these people when they set out to find someone. Must be very lonely. Do they trawl through old diaries or something? I struggle to remember some of my ex's names from long ago let alone feel I actually want to see them again!

SlartyBartFast · 24/11/2008 20:44

and the embarrassing desperateness of putting it out on the radio

Tinker · 24/11/2008 21:53

Ah, now I love Danny Baker on the radio. Funny and interesting.

On the Lost Loves thing, I got a letter a few years ago from someone looking for an ex. Assume she had same name and initial as me and that he had looked her up in teh phone book. He wasn't local so he must have looked quite specifically. But he did sound very keen to get in touch. So, I rang him to put him out of his misery. Didn't pretend to be her (now that would have been cruel ) but did tell him he was off the scent, so to speak

Wasn't Arnold on Ed 'Stewpot' Stewart?

Agree that Sunday morning radio (until The Archers) is dreadful. I used to love Natasha on 6Music on weekend mornings but she left. Oh - Adam & Joe on 6 are good, from about 9 or 10.

UnquietDad · 26/11/2008 23:29

Why doesn't Steve Wright perform the basic function of a DJ, i.e. tell us what song we have just been listening to? Especially if it's new. This has annoyed me for about 20 years. He treats the music as an annoyance which gets in the way of his "witty banter" with dull Tim Smith and that dippy homeopathic Janey woman.

LOL at UQD's "this has annoyed me for 20 years". It's a bit like Steve McFadden's girlfriend who said all he ever wanted to do was go dogging at the weekends and sometimes mid-week as well so she dumped him ..... after 2 and a half years and many many supermarket car parks.

scampadoodle · 27/11/2008 09:21

Oh god Janey...I'm sure she's a lovely woman but I keep wanting to direct her to Ben Goldacre's 'Bad Science' column in the Guardian...

NoBiggy · 27/11/2008 09:39

Arnold was Blackburn, I'm sure. Stewpot had that "ello darlin! Ha ha ha ha" thing he used to play all the sodding time.

scampadoodle · 27/11/2008 09:48

yes, I think you're right NoBiggy

purplemonkeydishwasher · 27/11/2008 10:01

UQD - you are SO right about SW not telling us the song. surely that is his JOB??

and i nearly vomit every sunday morning while making cocopops pancakes at the messages 'for my darling moo. you are my soul mate'

UnquietDad · 29/11/2008 00:16

I've never heard Steve Wright compared to enforced dogging before. Quite interesting.
