Thank you, @PseudoBadger, for kicking off this long, long series of Archers threads.

Archers All views on The Archers welcome here! New blood welcomed, and of course we are always delighted to welcome back former or occasional listeners/posters. We don't all agree on all points, although we do mostly try to be civil about it. Most of us are posting tongue in cheek a lot of the time, so don't worry about revealing that you'd love a couple of acquaintances to clean and tidy your house without your permission, or other unusual views. Grin

Archers Spoilers: not on this thread, please! We don't wait for the omnibus to discuss the weeknight episodes, but we do try our best to avoid cross-contamination from https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/radio_addicts/5457344-the-archers-spoilers-thread-11-cant-wait-for-702pm-join-us-here, where spoilers are positively welcomed!

Archers For newer listeners, lurkers or those who just have no idea what we're talking about, @DadDadDad has created this useful thread: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/radio_addicts/3557323-For-Archers-fans-a-guide-to-acronyms-on-the-long-running-discussion-threads-and-any-other-meta-thread-questions-you-may-have - BOOP point for him! (See thread for explanation.)

What do we think - best Christmas ever followed by a nice quiet New Year? No, me neither. We have the tractor run to look forward to Hmm, and then whatever they've got lined up for the 75th anniversary of the first ever episode - New Year's Day 1951. I can't imagine that anybody involved with the programme then expected it would still be on the air 75 years later. I wonder what they would make of the current direction. The lack of farming content would be a surprise, given that was the whole reason for devising the programme in the first place.

Over to you!

No idea how People got in there

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 01/01/2026 18:14

Harrison now.

Another clue that she is not of this world. She knew about Harrison grabbing George by the neck.

Right, one more suspect interview and if the schedule is to be believed that's right before tonight's episode. The special programme will paste them all together with some other filler stuff, I suppose.

snowibunni · 01/01/2026 18:17

Harrison is idiotic. He's supposed to be a policeman and therefore knows there midus operandi

Choccyp1g · 01/01/2026 18:18

Whew, just heard the continuity saying that we can hear all the interviews after the Archers today, looks like it will be non-stop Archers from 7 till 8.
I can just about stand that, and assume it will be available on catch-up.
I would be writing in to feedback if we didn't get to hear it properly in order.

JanFebAndOnwards · 01/01/2026 18:19

He dropped lots of others in it - this could go on for weeks

Sidebeforeself · 01/01/2026 18:19

@Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g I must say you are doing a wonderful job keeping us informed. I hope you dont charge us overtime for a Bank Holiday!

Brefugee · 01/01/2026 18:27

i usually listen on spotify a day late, but if i wanted to listen today, what is the schedule? I guess UK time at 7 is the omnibus? how long does that go on for? then after that is a 45 minute special which is the interviews (i only listened to 1, couldn't be bothered with the faffing around that i'd have to do to listen to the rest)

I am very confused by all this.

Many thanks! Let's see, time and a half or double time? What's my normal rate ... Oh.

It looks like 1902 the final interview, immediately after that the normal episode, immediately after that the special thing, finishing promptly at 8pm (I hope) at which time I leave you and head briskly north to commune with the Traitors.

I will keep an eye on the thread, though. I have another one ready to go if it looks as if it may be needed.

I don't think it's Evan Davies, but yes, good line. The next one is supposed to be at 1815 sandwiched between the news and an Ian Hislop programme.

@Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g , @AWintersDayInADeepAndDarkDecember , it was Ben Wright I think.

TottersBlatantlyTowardsTheBaileys · 01/01/2026 18:35

Full time job today, @Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g!

Fretfulagain · 01/01/2026 18:37

unless.

it’s the mild-mannered Brad.

all hot under the collar over Amber and offended at George’s last outburst. And the village will rally round to cover it up because George won’t die, or recall the event, and everyone will agree he had it coming.

until it pops up for the 80th or centenary celebrations . . .

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 01/01/2026 18:40

I did fit parkrun in first thing. This is my excuse for slobbing about ever since.

That’s terrifyingly impressive!

Brefugee · 01/01/2026 18:46

when does the omnibus get aired usually? (i am trying to work out if i should start listening "in real time" instead of just catching up a day later on Spotify)

HewasH2O · 01/01/2026 18:48

Sunday morning

Brefugee · 01/01/2026 18:49

ah, that explains a lot. Thanks. I think i will tune in for the ep this evening.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 01/01/2026 18:49

I believe you can download it from 0001 on Sundays. Much easier to catch up on Sounds episode by episode, though.

OP posts:
Ambridge · 01/01/2026 18:51

Well, I’ve managed to miss every single one of the 'special' eps today 😂 Thanks for going above and beyond, Gasp.

Gonners · 01/01/2026 18:53

I seem to recall that the bunting was found, though I can't remember where. So we can probably rule out Tilly. That's a shame, as it would be a terrifically annoying cop-out and would explain why the perp didn't speak.

JanFebAndOnwards · 01/01/2026 18:56

What will actually be included in the Omnibus??

Thank you. I wasn’t sure, so went to the BBC website and must have looked it up in the wrong place.
