Zoes mum just died after a stay in a hospice with cancer.
They have a complicated history.

I have resorted to audiobooks in the morning instead!

Her mum was diagnosed with cancer so she was caring for her and she very quickly died towards the end of April. Seems reasonable for her to not be at work really.

I didnt realise Zoe 's mum had died, they havent said anything on the radio as far as I know.

I've had to give up on the breakfast show because of Richie Anderson
I just really can't stand him, occasionally I'll listen to Vernon as I really like him but as soon as Richie comes on I just get irritated

@obsessedwithfreshbread same here! I find him even more annoying on the TV and can't understand why the BBC keep pushing him as a presenter. I'm getting really frustrated with Gaby as Zoe's stand in - can just about cope with Zoe on my drive to work but have to turn down all the bits in between the music whilst GR is on. Nikki Chapman is a brilliant early morning./breakfast presenter - she's done an awesome job on Sunday love Songs too! I wish she had a permanent show!

Unfortunately Radio 2 has gone down hill until 4pm when Sara cox comes on, she is brilliant. Its almost like they have given up caring, yesterday they had a strange voice filling in for Jeremy Vine, never heard of him before ? Gary Davis is brilliant though, lets have more of him, I love his music taste.

I have to be honest, I like Richie...he takes some getting used to, but I think he is really quite good.

I knew Zoe had been looking after her mum but not that she'd died. Poor Zoe; it's no surprise at all that she's taking some time off.
I don't actually mind Gaby that much, although her music is sometimes a bit shit.

Is it me or does Zoe Ball seem to be away from the show more times than she is there this year? I can't cope with Gabby Roslin as stand in this week - she's too much along with Richie Anderson. I had to switch off this morning and head to Classic FM for my own sanity. Still can't warm to Owain on the early breakfast slot - bring back Nikki Chapman! Am I just getting old?

I really like Scott Mills and hope he stays. I cant understand why BBC stand for Zoe being off so much. She is paid a hell of a lot for her job, she is much luckier than most, I suspect it wont affect her wallett if she is off this long. I am with you about Owain, I like him as a person, but he is awful on the radio. Please BBC no more Gaby Roslin.

I think Zoe has had some really horrendous things to go through in her life and understands more than most how important protecting her mental health is so if she needs time than she should be given as long as she needs.

But yes please no more Gaby Roslin/Nikki Chapman!

I actually like Nicky Chapman as a morning radio presenter ! Listened to Scott mills full
show this morning as off work and the combined voices of him, rylan and Richie together were like nails on a blackboard to me! I’m sure they are lovely blokes but their voices 😩😩😩😩

I've been wondering about how the BBC are going to continue the live broadcast and who they are pitching to. Now there is so many ways for people to choose their listening etc who is the audience? People like me, older , bit out of the loop and can't be bothered too much to keep up with tech, I'm wondering what the impact will be.

Wasn't it Tina Daheley filling in for Vine yesterday?

I can't stand Gary Davies. He sounds like he's smirking all the time and is a terrible interviewer.

I don't like Tina Daheley's presenting style - shes OK as part of a 'team' on the breakfast show but had to switch her off last time she was filling in for JV. Can't usually bear JV these days either so it wasn't too much of a hardship
