Tom Wrigglesworths Hang Ups- worried about Dad

Loved this prog on radio 4. Have listened again a few times and the voices are so lovely and familiar, and laden with humour obvs.

However, I haven't been a regular listener of The Archers for some years (sorry) but I caught an episode the other day, and there was Tom Wrigglesworths' Dad! Pretending to be someone called Leonard. I'd have recognised his voice anywhere.

Should I write to the producers to let them know there is an imposter? Or perhaps get in touch with Tom to let him know his dad is leading a double life?

I’m a regular archers listener and I knew I knew Leonard from somewhere! Thanks for putting me out of my misery

Glad to be of service @FelicityBeedle :)

Wikipedia tells me that he also does voiceovers for Morrison's TV ads. Moonlighting little sod, Tom's Granny would have something to say about that I expect.

I think someone should tell Jill Archer. Shocking how a married man could behave like that, and travelling from Yorkshire to Borsetshire in the lockdown too.
I'm disgusted.

Tom’s dad is obviously the most boring man alive, with the significant exception of every other man in ambridge. Maybe that’s why he moved/commutes

WheresThatCatGoneNow · 05/04/2021 19:02

Toms mum would be terribly upset if she knew her husband had been canoodling with Jill Archer in the 'caravan of love'.

I was pretty upset myself... 😲

WheresThatCatGoneNow · 05/04/2021 19:07

And I know for a fact that Tom's dad had a fling with a Scottish trainee solicitor in London in 1997.

KitchenWarrior · 05/04/2021 19:12

Leonard's got a son who lives in Singapore. Apparently he phones a lot Grin

ArwenTheGreat · 06/04/2021 09:50

@KitchenWarrior not every Sunday by any chance Grin? (and I guess London and Singapore could feel equally distant)

I'm so grateful that there are people who understand why this is something to note- anyone i know in real life would imagine I had gone bonkers if I mentioned this!

Yes, ArwenThe Great! We're all on your wavelength, don't you worry WinkGrin

CarrieBlue · 14/04/2021 18:49

It’s quite worrying that as well as Tom he has a son called Egg who wanted to be a solicitor 25 years ago and shagged his flat mate Anna. And another son called Jonny Briggs (according to my DH who insists on telling me every time he listens to Tom Wrigglesworth’s hang ups)

Powerplant · 14/04/2021 18:53

I noted this too absolutely love Tom Wrigglesworth and have true laugh out moments also thumbs up for the Archers😊

ILoveShula · 15/04/2021 18:30

I think we should tell Tom, but should we tell Jill?

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 16/04/2021 09:36

Jill's made of tough stuff! Let's not forget she threw a flapjack at a restaurateur a while back and ended up in the cells. Grin

Tom's Dad was also on the staff of King Street Junior, the primary school that R4 featured for years and years and years a couple of decades ago. He was calling himself Mr Long then. Resident moaner in the staffroom, as I recall.

ILoveShula · 16/04/2021 10:13

He gets around then. I would like to see Jill flinging flapjacks at the adulterous Leonard.

I think we should tell Brine and JD that Debbie is married (now possibly widowed) with two sons.

And Kirsty should resume and widen her search to Wetherfield, where she would find Gav. I think she's find Helen there too.

And it's a good job that no one in Ambridge listens to the Home Service Radio 4.
