Clearly DS' baths have meant I've missed more than I realised. Last time I heard from these 2 they were at it like rabbits every time I turned the radio on. Now she's moving to Canada? How did that happen?

It's on The Archers 'catch up' now too. They used to not put it up until the next day.

So Jennifer has had a husband, son and son-in-law in ITU in comas. Is she on a loyalty card scheme?! Ruaridh had better watch himself...

Olivia I can't believe you don't know about Grace? Shock

She was Phil's girlfriend for ages and they had quite the dramatic on off thing with him snogging other girls and her going out with other blokes then FINALLY they got married. About 6 months in to the marriage Phil got a promotion or some such (he was working for Grace's dad who owned the estate at this point) and they went to Grey Gables for dinner. Grace owned a horse called Midnight and it was stabled there (why?). Grace had just agreed with Phil that they would try for a baby btw. Anyway Grace dropped her earring in the car and went back out to get it. This meant that she observed that the stables were on fire. She rushed back in for everybody else, rushed out again and rushed in to the fire for the darn horse. Whereupon the roof collapsed and she died from her injuries in Phil's arms on the way to hospital (no victory for Felpersham General there). Phil was utterly devastated but a few years later he met Jill and married her. The secure Jill we know is very far from the Jill of those early days who was terribly jealous of the dead (and beautiful) Grace. Grace was well off with a loving family, Jill was an orphan. Even decades later when Lizzie was going out with Grace's 1/2 brother Jill wouldn't meet him.

NorthernLurker · 08/03/2013 22:12

I think Midnight might have been Christine's actually. Will have to find my book and look it up.

I am only 35(!)
Thanks though

NorthernLurker · 08/03/2013 22:15

here is a bit. It's Phil shouting panic stricken for 'Grace, Grace'

NorthernLurker · 08/03/2013 22:17

Well now I'm in a HUFF. I am 35 too!

OliviaMumsnet · 08/03/2013 22:17
Grin Sorry didn't mean to make you huff. Thanks off to listen.
harryhausen · 08/03/2013 22:26

Can I crash. I've been secretly loving TA for years and no one in my real life gets it.

Tallgiraffe - I'm glad you mentioned Ifty and Elizabeth. I'd been thinking the same. It's so obvious Ifty would fit perfectly into the family.

Tallgiraffe · 08/03/2013 22:27

That is serious knowledge Northern, don't huff - sit proudly on a hay bale of Archers facts Grin

Well after the proper stepfather job he was doing this evening I'd say his fate is sealed...

CuttedUpPear · 08/03/2013 22:32

I cannot BEAR Elizabeth's faux-husky voice. So tender and concerned the WHOLE BLOODY TIME.

she sounds like Nigella on downers.

WhatSheSaid · 08/03/2013 22:34

Grace dying in the fire is quite famous because, as someone mentioned upthread, the episode was broadcast at the same time that ITV were broadcasting their first programme. It was a big spoiler to try to keep people with the BBC! Now the BBC seem to be trying to get rid of the Archers, if you believe some of the posts on the recently-defunct BBC Archers message board.

PseudoBadger · 08/03/2013 22:35

So Ifty, what attracted you to your millionaire wife?

Who was this?!?!

HearMyRoar · 08/03/2013 23:24

But psuedo isn't all being held in trust for the boy. Does Lizzy actually have a bean to her name? Ifty was def getting in with the kids there :o

GrendelsMum · 08/03/2013 23:29

I reckon Lizzy must have something herself for this eventuality.

But given that Lewis seems to have been able to move into Lower Locksley as the second husband of the owner's dead mother, I reckon that the second husband of the owner's still living mother has a reasonably good claim.

PseudoBadger · 08/03/2013 23:34

Poor Lily, she'll be the one who ends up destitute.

NorthernLurker · 08/03/2013 23:35

His name was Robin Fairbrother. Ir didn't come to anything. The significant relationships in Lizzie's life are with Cameron Fraser - who dumped her when pregnant in order to flee the fraud squad (she had an abortion) - and Nigel.

Looking at plot summaries btw I reckon I started listening in 2006 when I was 9!

PseudoBadger · 08/03/2013 23:38

Well you're not 35 then.....
