I'm listening to it now and absolutely howling. I'm supposed to be working and DS is with the CM and I just want to run down the road and grab him and hug him and never let him out of my sight again

My mum could tell a good war story! She was 8 when it broke out and lived in London for part (towards the end). She used to have to sleep in the underground too!

Oh wow, I bet she does. My Grandad also had good stories. He was in the specials and used to tell me about the times he was on duty. My parents are too young to remember much unfortunately.

what did the specials do? Grandad was in Normandy (in the run as his unit gor separated and they had to run for it) and bomb disposal in london during the worse of the blitz. He was atone of the 9 camps soon after it opened and that really got to him (he went balliostic at my mum once for burning some fat from a roast she was making - he ran out and threw up then yelled at her. He said it was 'that smell'). We also suspect he had some hand to hand combat but whenever asked he would just say 'I was senior because I could shout loudest and was never captured because I could run faster than the enemy!'
