Kids and computers: did you hear it?

I caught the end of a radio (4 I think) programme about children and computers/computer games. I want to find it on iPlayer and play it to my 10 year old DS who is OBSESSED with computer games. (The bit I heard featured a teenage boy talking about how now he only plays for half an hour at a time because his obsession made him unwell; think I heard the word epilepsy mentioned.)

Does anyone know which programme it was on, and when? TIA Smile

I had a quick look at the schedule and couldn't see any likely programmes. Was it a subsection of a magazine-type programme, like Y&Y or Woman's Hour? What time of day was it?

Wish I could remember the time (think it might have been on Sunday).
Thanks for trying R4 Smile

I heard it, too, and was a little puzzled (thought it might have been just a quirky interview in Broadcasting House, but have listened again and it was not on that) and then that it was within a news show (but find it difficult to imagine because of Libya and Japan events.

I do have 18 hours per day of R4 recorded as MP3 files but have not found time to review all 50+ hours to find it for you. I put a query on the BBC Message Board today (it closes for good at the end of the month, so last chance to easily reach lots of other R4 addicts) and will get back to you if there's a clear answer.

Was it You and Yours and their item on the Vietnam ban on computer games? You and Yours

NetworkGuy · 27/03/2011 14:57

Sorry, no. But thanks for the detective work :)

Male interviewer, of a lad (age 9, I think) where the lad used to use a games console for hours, until his dreams and possibly daytime thinking was still "in the game".

He knew it was "taking over" and appears to have given it up completely (or almost), switching to team sports.

Thanks Chil1234 (and NetworkGuy again: you are spot on NG; that's the snippet I heard).

The search continues? Smile

mothermirth - should have suggested POTW (Pick Of The Week) as they must have lots of liaison with staff from across R4 (and to a lesser extent other stations).

Just getting the name of the programme out of POTW would be enough for me to find the file on my 'recorder' PC (fingers crossed - I had to make space on it the other day as it sits recording apart from when BBC World Service is on).

Don't mention recordings from 'someone' but see if they ident the show so you can 'contact them (in the BBC) direct '...

NetworkGuy · 04/04/2011 10:39

Did you contact Pick of the Week to ask if they knew what show included that computer clip ?
