Baby shops with staff who haven't got a clue...

Hi has anyone else had problems with Baby shops and staff that have not got a clue. My local mothercare is full of youngsters who look blank when asked a question.....

mothercare is totally hit and miss.
we have 3 mothercares locally. in one is a lady who knows everything about every product.
agree though mostly they are grumpy blank looking teens
toys r us is worse though! there is never anybody to ask there at all.
good job we have mumsnet to share expert advice!

Our mothercare is a bit poor sometimes. They have some rather young inexperienced staff. Really nice and polite, but don't know how to demonstrate products and give incorrect answers to some queries. Toys are us are much worse though, hard to find staff to talk to about products, and often their staff are young and inexperienced too.

I wouldn't bother with Mothercare for anything technical. I remember going to my local store and asking them to see if a car seat fitted in my car (this was after standing around for 20 mins to be served). I was advised that no they couldn't take the seat outside as the ground was wet (it had been raining) due to 'health and safety' reasons....
Couldn't be arsed more like. Needless to say I don't buy there anymore.

OTOH today I went to my local hardware shop (a small, dingy one) looking for a mop, a sieve and an ironing board cover. The very young man behind the counter knew exactly where everything was and in what varieties it came. It actually made me feel rather sad that a young boy is wasting a Sunday behind the counter like this.
