P&T or Maclaren with buggy board - DS 2.6 when DC2 arrives

Expecting DC2 in Sept, when DS will be 2.6. We're working on building his stamina as I refuse to have a large child in a buggy, and am aiming to have him largely out of the buggy by age 3 at latest if possible. We have a Maclaren Techno XT at the moment which I find great.

Given this, would you get a P&T or just manage with Maclaren + buggy board.

We would need a tandem here as country footpaths can't take a side-by-side and P&T seem obvious choice. But is it worth investing £400-£500 when DS may be out of it in 6 months? Willing to consider buying one then selling on, if they hold their value.

So I was thinking baby in Ergo, plus DS in Maclaren and/or baby in Maclaren with DS walking/hopping on buggy board. But worrying about situations where I might need both DCs strapped in a buggy.

Any thoughts/experience?

P&T much easier to push than a mac and bb imho

Older child can hop in and out as required if they get tired

Buy 2nd hand

I posted on Behaviour/Development too as I realised this was actually more a "how far I can expect a 2.6yo to walk" question than a "which pushchair combo" question. Got loads of good responses there and consensus was with my age gap that I will need a double for lots of reasons - so now will be looking for a 2nd hand P&T

my middles son used p&t right up til he was past his 3rd birthday. When they are sick/tired/weather bad its nice to have them strapped in. I don't drive and walk everywhere so i had no option if he didn't want to walk would have been stuck at home. When he was 3yr2m i sold p&t and bought a nipper which worked fab with board and used that for a few months....then made him walk he's a good walker now but can at least swap into buggy with his little brother on long days out!
