Can the stokke xplory carry cot be carried easily?

Hello everyone,
I am considering buying a Stokke xplory pushchair + carrycot. As I am living on the 3rd floor without lift I was wondering if the Stokke can be easily carried? I thought of seperating the carrycot from the base and going twice up the stairs. But now I am wondering if the carrycot as well as the seat have straps or handles to be carried with?

Hi, The carrycot does have handles to carry it. The seat unit does seperate from the wheels and I do carry my son in it at the moment to go into the house if he is asleep although Stokke don't recomment it I don't think!

He was asleep last week when I took him to creche and they couldn't accomodate the whole pram so I took the seat off the wheels and if you flip down the small rigid plasitc pocket on the back this makes it stand even on the floor, letting him stay asleep.

The carrycot has handles for carrying, the seat does not, although you can carry it easily with one hand by the bumper bar.

When baby is small you can probably manage baby in carrycot in one hand, chassis in the other. However once older you will struggle to do it in one trip as you will then have baby, seat and chassis.

One of the selling points of the Xplory is that you can fold the front wheels under, and pull the buggy up the stairs on two wheels. I've not tried it myself, but could be an option?

starsailor, Stokke used to market it that you could do that but now they say you have to take the child out to pull it up the stairs. What is the point in that, it was a selling point from them once????!!!

Again, its up to you if you do it or not, Stokke just have to cover their backs I suppose?
