This looks a LOT like a bugaboo...Is it?

This looks very much like a bugaboo - is it the "frog" or "gecko" - but the design sold onto a german manufacturer perhaps (because they don't seem to be selling these models in the uk anymore)?
The price is great - anyone here had one of these - I'm very tempted!
here on ebay

This looks like my Chameleon Bugaboo....you can buy genuine fabric at quite a reasonable cost if this one arrives with rubbish fabric. My 3 year old is very tall and she still just about fits, although hasn't used a pushchair since she was just over two, front or rear facing.

multimummy · 15/04/2010 09:48

Hmm, my dc is average but i do anticipate needing to use it up to age 4 at least, because i don't drive, buses where we live are infrequent and overpriced so we do around 8 miles or so a day.
Maybe i should just stick with our Bjce.

All the Bug Cam accesories fit the Miwheels, and vice versa.

I'm quite tempted to buy one myself, need to save first.

posieparker · 15/04/2010 11:11

DD is in age 5 clothes. why don't you pop down to your local pram stockist and see?

faddle · 15/04/2010 21:24

DD is 4 and in july, 105cm 15+kg and still fits fine in cameleon. Still steers beautifully with one hand, with suspension on the stiffest.
I love my bug...........
I have seen a miwheels with cam fabrics on and thought it was a cam until I saw the basket that didnt have the bugaboo logo. Its identical in every way as far as I can tell, and yes, the cameleon maxi cosi adapters do fit a miwheels

beckstar24 · 16/04/2010 12:56

I've had oen and it is a cam - absolutely. he, however, is a ngihtmare and customer service beyond pants - so be warned. Pushchair was faulty and he was beyond rude - sorted it myself in the end. Car seat pants - have the adapters still if anyone wants, look like they'd fit maxi-cosi but don't have one to test.

I have both, a denim cam and a miwheels to leave in the car and plonk he car seat on thechasis yes the adaptors do fit. Fabrics are the same as my spare cam canvas set apart from the logo but the cam apron will not zip on.

Tabitha8 · 16/04/2010 14:39

That seller isn't registered as a business on Ebay.
Is this pram a Bugaboo or is it a bit like a fake Rolex? I can't work it out. I'm intrigued. I like them.

carrielou2007 · 16/04/2010 14:45

It is exactly the same, really. I bought one as even a second hand cam chasis and wheels would cost about the same and having loads of spare hoods/liners etc for my cam I may as well have the whole thing and use some bits!

Tabitha8 · 16/04/2010 14:46

This is on the Bugaboo website about fake Cameleons. It doesn't say that they aren't any good of course. I'm not sure I want one now.

Disenchanted3 · 16/04/2010 22:39

Tabitha I think thats incase people buy the cheaper ones then try to sell them on as bugaboos.

ooosabeauta · 16/04/2010 23:03

It is totally identical to a Cameleon, even down to the brake lever and the switchy over/collapsing buttons on the inside. Seems a bit bizarre that they could get something so alike and it not be a bit underhand. However, if it works the same then that's a massive saving.

Re. multimummy's Q - My toddler ds sits parent-facing in our Bugaboo Cameleon quite often still, and is great for reclining him facing me like a pram when he has a nap. Only downside is that I've found it quite short for body height recently - he's only 19 mths and his head is right up at the top of the canopy. However, I love the buggy, and wish they did a double too.

multimummy · 17/04/2010 11:34

Thanks so much everyone for the feedback and info. I've had a think and i'm not going to get one. Ds is coming up for 2 and a little above average on height so probably not worth me investing in one at this late stage. I do love my babyJogger elite just sometimes wish Ds could face me. Other than that the Bj is perfect.
If i was expecting again i'd be v tempted though!

Rockbird · 17/04/2010 14:57

Please someone buy those up. I am sooooo tempted but DD doesn't use a pushchair much any more, I have four pushchairs anyway and DH would have a fit. But I would like to try a Cam, be it real or fake

multimummy · 17/04/2010 15:28

Rockbird - sounds like you need a new baby (or a fake one?) before a new pushchair!

I know what you mean though - I'd love to try one - but am not going to spend all that (even the fake is about £300 if you buy the real covers in the end) for a dc who'll probably have a growth spurt and be too tall for it before I have finished needing a pushchair....

tip - if you walk your dd far enough she might need a pushchair again....

At least my bj will fit him until he's at least 6y (doubt I'll be needing a buggy after that)!
