Advice on cheapest, lightest buggy for chunky 17 mth old?

Hi all.

I need a lightweight, easily foldable buggy for my chunky 17 mth old. Cheapest option possible, really. Have got an M&P Pliko Pramette and a McClaren Techno at the moment and finding them both too heavy.

Baby Jogger City Mini, I love mine. It's not good on escalators though because it's a single handle, so if you use the tube regularly it wouldn't be ideal.

Am looking for one as well.
Baby Jogger is 7.7 kg though, that the same or more as McLaren Techno.
What about McLaren Volo- I think they are the lightest on the market.

It depends on whether the OP is finding it heavy to push her current pushchairs or heavy to carry them when folded.

If you're finding it heavy to push MM then avoid a Volo, I had one as a second pushchair for DS and it was a pain to push because it has little wheels. It was very easy to carry though, and once I got used to it quite quick to fold. Because it's so lightweight I could fling it over my shoulder and carry both it and DS. It also folds quite small and narrow. The brakes on my old one were rubbish, but perhaps newer models are better.

The BJCM feels light to push as it has big wheels, although they are solid not air-tyres. An air-tyre buggy is usually a dream to push, but not easy to fold. The BJCM folds in a flash, but once folded it's not great for carrying any distance. It's perfect for throwing in the car though, I load mine in the boot with the handle towards me on the top, then when I take it out I just pull it by the handle and it pops up as it comes out of the boot. So it's a single-handed fold and unfold.

Thanks all.

BJCM looks great but £199 too pricey for me! This is going to be my last 'summer buggy', I think. Will use M&P this winter and then hopefully abandon a buggy altogether by the following winter.

Looking for something lighter in general / to carry and as quick to fold as the McClaren techno

Having tried a lot of pushchairs , I'm not sure I've found a buggy as light to push as a Techno. I've just bought another one for my dd as she is 2.9 years and heavy to push in everything else! The only other one it might be worth trying is an Obaby (not the Atlas circles one).

A second hand Micralite fastfold. We have one for weekends, as it's the only one that fits in our zafira boot (rear wheels off) when all the seats are in use. It's fantastically light to push and handles all terrains really well. Hammock seat is so comfy for baby. Love it! I also love our baby Jogger city mini for days out on the bus as it's fast to fold and pop up. The complete layback and dark hood are also great for keeping baby in luxury.

why not try something with air tyres? you would find the push so much easier..something like a nipper 360 which is quite lightweight too esp for a three wheeler. Dream to push!

What about a Petite Star Zia?

Go into Mothercare/etc and try the little umbrella folds they have there to see which are any good.

Or if you want to risk one without trying it out, look at the M&P Pipi in Argos at the moment. Fab little pushchair for £40. My 17 month old is very happy in it and plenty of room etc (he is not particularly chunky though)
