Mothercare Spin, ICandy Apple or Quinny buzz 4? HELP!!

Hi,

(This is my first post as a new mum to be so any advice or feedback would be great about this )

I am nearly 5m, and have started to look at travel systems/ puchchairs. Everytime we diecide on one, we change our minds and now we really cant decide!!

We are stuck between the Mothercare Spin, ICandy Apple and Quinny Buzz 4...

Quinny- I have been advised by a friend that her Quinny was a waste of time. The tyres punctured on 3 occasions and the back wheels are wide which can be an issue with walkways and doors. I really like it though!

ICandy Apple- The complete system is working out at £697, which is a little more than i really wanted to spend. Can i justify spending that much when so many people tell me they end up swapping for a buggy after 9 months?

Mothercare Spin- I really lke this one, but haven't found many reviews etc? Does anyone have one that has any views?

I'm due July and have been looking at prams since the new year - I saw the icandy peach after stopping a mum last week, I haven't seen one anywhere in a store - who's sells these? The lady i met bought hers last Nov and is just in love with it - she must have spent quarter of an hour telling me about - I didn't think to ask her where she bought it. Can someone help, I didn't have the nerve to ask her how much it cost but it looks so modern and sleek, she thought they were designed in Japan.

We have a buzz our dd is now 2 and we are about to sell it - its lovely and light to push but a pain in the arse having to take it apart to put in the car etc and some shops are definately not buzz width friendly, we bought a cheap buggy but then this is not very comfy for off roading, i love the fact you can have the buzz facing you or away from you - guess it comes down to your lifestyle and how much storage space you have and the size of your car!!

We have the Buzz 4 and love it, the wheels are a bit big but you can still get round shops and through doors.

I like the fact that it can change to face you or away, not many had that option.

Weve been using ours for six months and it looks good as new, it seems to wear very well.

the buzz should fit into the boot of an average hatchback without having to take the wheels off.

The Buzz is one of my preferred choices so your help has been great. Like you say ginger i think its going to come down to lifestyle choices!

We struggle for storage in our house so i think i may ask my friend to try hers in my house just to see how it manouvers around etc!

Sara- I found that they only stock the ICandy prams at stores and cant buy online. John Lewis had the Peach and Apple, but a local pram store near me (lancashire) had the candy, Apple & Peach. We originally liked the Candy, but after asking someone who had it (in the shop!), they advised me against the Candy. very small and no suspension meant that it wasnt going to last long. The Candy complete package (Chasis, Pushchair, carrycot, Maxi cose car seat & foot muff) was £579, the complete Apple package was £697, and the Peach package was £750 ish.

Hi Janet, thanks for the John Lewis tip, it took a while but I found icandy on their website ((www.johnlewis.com/Shops/DSTemplate.aspx?Id=392)).
We took a trip to Welwyn our nearest this afternoon where they had all the icandy on display. The peach is the most expensive in the icandy range as your note suggests but it is simply totally gorgeous. I asked about the suspension as you said this was a problem, they showed me the suspenion on all 4 wheels so looked OK to me, they said the cherry doesn't have suspension but all come with 2 years warranty, (and John lewis's super after sales service). The buzz is really wide as some of you say. I saw the Peach and buzz folded side by side and there's no comparison - the peach is just tincy but you do have to take the seat off the frame which is common with many prams they told me. BUT, big BUT did you know the peach can be changed into a double pram ? - as I'm a first timer this may be the thing that swings it for me. I've got to get a grip and look at a few other prams or I'll sign up for a peach before the end of the week - am I going too fast ? is there something I'm missing about prams ?? I've about 4 months to make up my mind so will keep you all posted - if you can all bare it !!! Sara.(confused)

Icandy have a very good reputation but if you are happy to spend that sort of money they are not a patch on a bugaboo cameleon.

I hated the buzz, awful wide rear wheels, terrible steering, looks like a golf trolley, very little storage (if you put te raincover in the shopping basket no room to put anything else!!) loved that it was RF and that's about it. THought it looked really funky before I bought it and loved the auto unfold, fitted easily in my then car a golf GTI.

Not keen on the spin, the wheels do not look right to me.

I have a peach (icandy) and I love it! It also has the option to become a very nifty compact double should you decide to go again! It folds really small and the seat is big enough to accommodate my 3 year old when he gets tired.. (unlike the Buzz which my chunky bubba struggled to fit in

I'd agree £750 for a bugaboo or the same for an icandy, bug would win hands down.
I've bought a stokke though just to confuse matters further

I've also just realised that i have referred to the Cherry as the Candy in my previous post! I meant the Cherry!! Glad you got to see the peach. I think im going to go and have at them all side by side like you did. That way i can look at all aspects together eg size of the storage basket and wheel size.

Ive not really looked into the Bugaboo so may look at that one too- thanks!

Wonka im glad to hear that you can still use the Peach for your 3 yr old. That was a concern of mine as a lot of my friends have changed for a buggy after about 9-10 months.

Ive not seen the Stokke? Are they available in a chain store to view? I may have to look into this too. Arrggh!!!

I have 30+ buggies and would have to agree with going for a bugaboo.The peach would be my choice if I needed a double but a single, definately bugaboo...I used to think they were overated and overpriced....Then I tried one

That's my concern. I can't help but thinking spending so much on a pram would be a waste, but then much more cost effective than going through 30 like you say , and you speak from experience!!

I vouch for Bugaboo Cameleon, I know not what your post originally states...
but they are fab, beautiful to push, you can change the covers..
they can cope with snow..

The bee is a lovely wee thing also

I think once you have a Bugaboo you can't go back.. they are very addictive!

Also resale for a bug is really good, you could try it second hand and if you don't like it, sell it, and get your money back.

Also newborns look lovely and cosy in the Carrycot!

The cameleon as a travel system works really well also.. very easy.

The only slight thing is you need to practice to get the knack of folding it, if you do fold it.

Everything purplebuns says Can also vouch for the addictiveness-I now have 7 cams, 5 bees and 3 geckos!!!
