Best buggy to take on holiday?

We are going on holiday in May and will be in a very hot climate so I thought I'd take a buggy for DD2 (2).

But, the thing is, my buggy is an expensive one and I have heard that buggies do sometimes get broken on the plane.

Can anyone recommend a really light, robust little buggy (and cheap!) that would be perfect? (with sun canaopy) I orignally thought quinny zapp, but these are expensive new....

How about a maclaren quest - mine is very lightweight yet feels sturdy...I was saw my good buggy literally chucked off the plane onto a trolley, so its a good idea to take a spare

i'd get a mac xt if you can with a tilting hood you can pick these up reasonably secondhand and they always sell on v.easily. just check the model you are buying has the tilting hood and it will give your dd more protection. Quests are lovely im using one atm but if its especially hot the xt will give better protection hood-wise!

I'm looking for the same thing at the moment and lots of people have recommended the Petite Star Zia (Toys R Us do their own version).
