ABC adventure - are they available in UK?

I am looking for a twin buggy with an additional toddler seat, and it looks like the ABC adventure fits the bill. However, I'm not sure if you can get them in the UK. Does anyone have any experience of them, or know how I can get ahold of one. Many thanks.

There is one on ebay at the moment with the additional toddler seat.

Hi GibberingGinger, when I bought my ABC adventure buggy in March 2009, I bought it direct from the manufacturers in New Zealand.

We actually only used it a handful of times, and are looking to sell it as we only have 1 child not walking now. It is in mint condition, obviously, other than a gouge out of the foam on the handle bar, which was caught in the car boot on one of the occasions we used it.

It is Navy blue and red, has the reclining toddler seat with sleeping bag, and full raincovers, sunshades etc.

Thanks Zen1, last time I looked there was just a single with toddler seat but I haven't looked in a few days.

Lou, do you mind me asking why you only used it a handful of times? I'm completely undecided about what I need to buy. I am expecting twins and have a 2year old. My escape when my little one was newborn was to put her in the pram and go for a walk - this is going to be a lot more difficult with twins and a toddler, hence thinking of the ABC adventure. However I don't want to spend huge amounts on a pram that I won't use.

Thanks for your replies

To be perfectly honest, GibberingGinger:

DD1 was 3.4 when DD3 was born. DD1 has special needs, so can 'meltdown'. I needed somewhere to put her, but my phil and teds would be taken up by the baby and DD2 (20 months at that time). I didn't have a car in the day time.

The buggy is very smart, and the children were comfortable.

But, I am only 8.5 stone at my heaviest, post pregnancy weight. And I am not massively strong. The weight of the two older children combined with the weight of the buggy was quite a load. Our local pavements have a steep camber, the older girls were different weights, and I simply wasn't strong enough to comfortably keep it on the pavement.

Having said that, I am the only person I have known to say this. The lady who recommended the buggy to me had a 2 year old then had twins, and described it as her 'lifesaver'. She still used it when her children were 4, 2 & 2. But she was taller, heavier & stronger than me.

In the end, my mum decided that she would look after the younger girls while I take DD1 to preschool each day. She is quite a handful on her own, so this is very helpful.

I do think it is a good buggy, and perfect for most needs, but I just can't handle it. I am used to the phil and teds which is very narrow & has in-line weight loading rather than horizontal weight loading.

Thanks Lou. One of my worries is about the sheer weight of pushing twins and a toddler in a buggy! At the moment I'm just looking into stuff, but will seriously start thinking about buying in about 4-8 weeks time. Are you interested in selling your ABC adventure? The problem is I am in scotland, so it would be difficult to arrange a collection

I am, but would have to look into the cost of sending it. Where abouts are you in Scotland?

GibberingGinger · 27/01/2010 12:44

I'm in Fife (about 45 minutes north of Edinburgh). Have my 20 week scan next week so am waiting until I know everything is ok before I make any major purchases. However I will definitely be in touch again if I do decide on the adventure, but in the mean time if you can get a good price for it elsewhere and sell it, I won't be offended
