HELP Ordered pram 3 weeks ago, still waiting...would you cancel and go elsewhere??

MummyTumble · 18/01/2010 12:02

After lots of research i ordered a pram from the glasgow pram centre online. I'd never used them before but read lots of positive stories.

The pram i wanted said would be available end of december so on 28th dec i ordered it, after emailing and getting a reply saying it would be in early Jan - which was fine. So they've taken my money (£200) at end of Dec and still no pram.

I have emailed and been told on 7th of jan its due in any day. I phone last week and told it would be in beginning of this week, due to poor weather . Website still showing no stock and my email from 7am friday has been unanswered.

DO i give up, ask for a refund and spend an extra £50 at kiddicare????? Or hang on as i've waited this long?? Baby not due for a couple of months.....but thats not really the point!!!!!!!!!!!

pram release dates are often postponed however they shouldn't have taken the money before despatch. Has anyone else got stocks of the same pram? what pram is it?

MummyTumble · 18/01/2010 12:10

obaby xi - kiddicare have them in stock but £50 extra

hmm, i know obaby can be a pain about stock levels but the wholesaler (used to be kims) is very good at despatch if they have them in- it is always next day delivery, so maybe they are still waiting for stock- give them another ring to confirm or the obaby customer services may be able to tell you more on 0845 0780290. they will tell you if obaby themselves are still out of stock or if you are being messed around iyswim. hope that helps

MerlinsBeard · 18/01/2010 12:41

well it may be that they have no stock. The UK pretty much ground to a halt for at least a week due to snow.

I would do what RWU has suggested and ring obaby to see what stock levels are like and potential delivery dates to where you ordered before you make up your mind.

MummyTumble · 18/01/2010 12:46

Thanks for your help - have phoned obaby and was told the woman on the phone didn't know exact levels but knew there was a delivery due in in 4 weeks! I'm back on hold to pram centre to see what they have to say......

Have read that by rights they have to deliver to me in 30days of our contract unless they give me a different date - which they haven;t..so they have a week i think to honour this contract

Bambino Direct have one for £34 more but have heard terrible stories there!!!!

This is all DH's fault cos he;s being mean and wouldn;t let me get a P&T tandem

i've had a quick google- lots of places out of stock so it would seem that obabytrade/kims do not have any atm- kiddicare probably get direct delivery because of the stock levels they take. prob worth waiting as it will arrive as soon as they get to the wholesaler!

MummyTumble · 18/01/2010 12:52

That'll mean another 4 weeks or more wait....almost 2 months they'll have had my money.....

while i struggle with ds knackered old pram...and due date looms

OP posts:
reallywoundup · 18/01/2010 13:06

they really shouldn't have taken payment until despatch- very naughty! but it's a case of wait for the bargain price or pay the extra for the in stock ones. have you got through to the retailer yet?

MummyTumble · 18/01/2010 13:12

Yes - just got through - they were shocked to hear obaby said 4 weeks, they have phoned them and phoned me back to say it will be sometime in february and they're going to change the info on the website.

I've cancelled my order...think i'll be paying the extra £50 from kiddicare once my refund comes through. The money doesn't bother me so much as i still think it's a reasonable price.....DH on the other hand thinks i can shop around still I already did and it got me nowhere men eh!!!

Thank you for all of your help and advice - never thought about phoning obaby direct!

no probs which colour are you after? red or green?

reallywoundup · 18/01/2010 13:16

i think i've answered my own question- green?

MummyTumble · 18/01/2010 13:19

i've had a scout and kiddicare's your best bet even if it is more expensive- personally i'd get the black which is exclusive to them- you can accesorise nicely then! good luck and hope you like it, nice pram at a good price, obaby are very reliable.

MummyTumble · 18/01/2010 15:05

Thanks - have seen bambino direct are cheaper so will see if kiddicare will price match too

OP posts:
nicolamumof3 · 18/01/2010 16:10

kiddicare do price match btw but it has to be in stock i believe so guess they won't on this occasion. kiddicare c/s fab tho.

MummyTumble · 18/01/2010 17:06

Its in stock in bambino direct for £235 - i've just read terrible reviews about them, and have never had a problem with kiddicare so would rather go with them. Its pramcentre online that have none in stock.

Worth a try anyway

MummyTumble · 19/01/2010 17:28

Kiddicare have agreed to pricematch bambino direct, and pram should be here tomorrow, and done it through quidco too. So hopefully I'll have only paid around £25 more in the end.

Lets hope its good and does the job after all of this

MummyTumble · 20/01/2010 14:14

Well its here

Have put it together and it seems fab!!! Very smart, seems really sturdy and wellmade. DS will be up from his nap later to test it out......then have to wait for babies arrival to use it as a double

thanks again for all the help
