At what age did you DC stop using a pram?

The reason I ask is that I am expecting DC2 and can't decide whether to get a double side-by-side buggy (my preference) or a phil & ted style buggy (one underneath the other!). DC1 will be 21 months and whilst I know he will initially want somewhere to sit, when do the start wanting to be independent/scooter etc? Don't want to be pushing DC2 in a double buggy on their own!

Many thanks

DS - 2 years 2 months.

DD - would still be in it now if I gave her the chance (she's 6!)

I miss having a pram - no where for coats and bags when we're out!
