Phil&Ted sport double - brake question

twinsmama08 · 02/12/2009 13:58

Hi
after much deliberation finally bought a phil&ted sport double for my 18-month twins.

However have not used it yet as I seem to find it hard if not impossible to use the brake with the double kit on.
Is very very stiff and hard to unlock with just one foot.
I looked trhough many review sites/message boards and nobody seemed to report this problem.

Anyone had same problem or is it just me? Any advice?

it's not just you.
They are all stiff.
Try lifting the brake off with flip flops

They are all the same and they don't get better.
I did mine in a pair of those stupid Nike Air Rift trainers the other day and it slipped between my toes rendering me unable to move for 10 mins outside the school.

I used to have an e3 and the brake was fine and easy to put on and take off. I now have a 2nd hand sport and the brake is a pita. I hardly use it (the brake) and when I do I have to put it on and release it by hand rather than by foot.

Same problem here. I have to use my hand to put the brake on and off.

Yes they are really stiff. I usually end up taking it off by using my hand. However, according to p&t it is supposed to be stiff to prevent little ones in the doubles seat from operating it themself. I guess when you think about it that does make sense.

oh dear, it's not just me then!
I wish I had known about this before, I would have gone for the dash model then which has a handle-operated brake.
We did try out a sport in mothercare and the brake did not seem so stiff there..
Sigh... my "phil&ted dream" is now shattered just gotta get used to it I suppose...
thanks all for your feedback!
