I'm going to list a Mamas and Papas pushchair and travel system so will be sending by courier but how do I package it? Will bubble wrap a black bin liner and brown paper be enough? I haven't got the box it came in.

Courier's will accept it packed like that (at least that's what dhl said last week) but it's a PITA packing them in brown paper! You will be cursing (still remember doing that with a quest years ago) I usually get a box somewhere to fit (electrical shop etc) or I taped 2 boxes together last time. Really important to know whether you'll have 1 or 2 boxes though, one massive box much cheaper to courier than 2 smaller ones.

Go to a DIY shop and ask for empty boxes. Most of them will have big boxes that prams fit in. If not, you can use masking tape/parcel tape to wrap the cardboard around the pram. I've found that greenhouse tape is very good for wrapping prams as well.

If not, the bubblewrap/blackbag idea is also ok, but costs a bit to do.

thanks for that, I can get lots of bubble wrap free so will be ok, will start to hunt round for big boxes. Do couriers go by weight or size for cost?

Most of them ask for both. Here are a few I use

P4D
Parcel2Go
Senditnow

hiya,
ive recently moved back from spain but when i lived there i bought a quinny buzz off ebay in uk.it arrived safe and sound in bubble wrap with bin bags then brown paper.no boxes or anything.i wouldnt bother personally, too much faff!

www.interparcel.com is great as you get a quote using the weight and dimensions and then gives you lots of different couriers as options i think so you can go with the cheapest or whatever.I have used them numerous times and never had probs
