Silver cross traditional coachbuilt pram question (kensington)

I am thinking of getting one for my baby due next week. I live in a building with a few steps, what are they like going up and down steps, curbs etc?
Would I need to un-attach the carrycot part and carry it up steps, is this feasible with a baby inside? Or would it be too heavy?

I cannot imagine doing it on a daily basis, your back will be ruined !

I have the Silver Cross Carlton which is a virtually identical model. If you're not familiar with vintage prams it's lack of manoeverability will surprise you compared to modern swivel-wheelers, but it's not in the least surmountable!

Because of it's fantastic suspension, it bounces about over every crack and pebble, goes up and down kerbs fine (with a little bit more of a push than a modern pram would) and you just have to take it up or down steps slowly. It's coachbuilt remember, so it's designed to be robust. You don't have to worry about punctures and amazingly spares are still available online.

Can't you just take the baby out of the pram rather than take off the carrycot? Much easier.

I also have a modern pushchair, but it's no comparison to the pride I feel pushing my newborn about in this and the pleasure I will feel recalling in later years how my baby was wheeled around like a king in a proper pram! It makes for beautiful, nostalgic photos for the family album too.
