Crazy price difference between Ireland and UK - so unfair.

I am looking for a good stroller for walking on country roads. Someone mentioned the Britax Strider which is £91 (E109) in Argos at the moment.

I had a look - looks good so went to the Irish site and it is E353 which converts to £309 how can this be possible? It is 3 times the price here.

At this rate I will never afford a new stroller that suits my needs.

Sorry - rant over.

Good idea barbie1. We bought our main pram - a Silver Cross Sleepover on the internet. Cost us ?260 brand new. ?750 in the shops here.

I went to Ireland a bit ago and couldn't believe how much more expensive stuff was. Boxes of chocolate were nearly 3x the price of in the UK.

I've looked at Ebay but really wanted to avoid delivery charges if possible, I've seen a few things but the delivery makes them not quite a bargain.

DH is not convinced we need a new pushchair at all so trying to keep the cost down.

stripey You are right. Everything is so expensive here. We are now suffering the effects of the good times when we were willing to pay crazy prices for everything just because we had the money.

The price difference is shocking! Would it be cheaper for someone to buy it for you in the UK then post it to you?

suiledon surely it would be cheaper for you to come up to the North and get all your baby stuff, there is even a big price difference in Smyths which has loads of good baby offers

It might be worth going up to newry to get all the baby stuff?

or even, get your husband to fly to gatwick for ?25! get off at haywards heath or somewhere nearby that has an argos, mothercare. get your buggy, fly back the same day.

Smyths do some quite reasonable buggies actually. I don't know if they are the makes you're after, but some of their strollers, dimples, prices not bad.

Thanks everyone. Baby is dd2 and is 9 months old already so just looking for a buggy for walking in the country as I have a Maclaren Quest and it is not good on even slightly bumpy roads.

MISDEE Thanks so much for the very kind offer. I have yet to convince DH of the need for another buggy. We have the Mac, a Silver Cross pram and a Chicco stroller already so not in urgent need. If I do talk him round I might take you up on that offer.

We are fairly far south so it would be a long drive to the north although I know it is worth it if you have a lot to get.

It was just that buggy caught my eye and then the price difference was so huge it really annoyed me. It just makes me so annoyed to have to go to all the trouble of postage, couriers etc.
