Hi mums,

I was all set on getting the joie i size 360 car seat but I have been to John Lewis recently and saw the maxi Cosi emerald 360 S car seat.

Now I'm a bit confused as looks wise the maxi Cosi looks a decent size compared to the joie which looks bulky,

I was looking for a straight out of hospital new born car seat upto a few years which others on here recommend the I spin was ok to go for.

Could you please give me your opinions /experiences. Thank you all.

The Emerald incorporates a high back booster mode as well, so not one I would look at from newborn. It's trying to do too many things and will probably be a compromise on at least one of them. You want to pick a car seat to specialise in the job you want it to do. Maxi Cosi multi-stage seats also tend to have inserts which are too all-or-nothing, so you get an awkward bit where the baby doesn't fit properly.

There is a good offer on the "cloud" colour of Besafe izi Turn or izi Twist at the moment - you need the B version for from newborn. That is probably the best seat you can get from birth to age 4 (ish).

The Joie i-Spin is OK and probably the best budget friendly option.

What is the bulk part you are concerned about - fitting in the car? I would recommend testing this before purchase anyway if possible.
