Bugaboo Fox 5 or Mamas & Papas Ocarro

we were set on the Fox 5 but it just seems so expensive and don’t know if we will regret it. I’m worried about spending all this money then getting a cheaper stroller within a year. The Ocarro seems good for all terrain but heavy from what I have read online. I don’t know if the difference in price is justified. Does anyone have either of these prams or any advice on which to go for? And did you get good use out of your travel system or was it a waste?

We do go for woodland walks quite a bit but nothing extreme and would be driving to these places so it would be in and out of the car. No public transport would be involved.

I had the Bee rather than the Fox but I think they are similar.

I’d go bugaboo every time. Dd had an icandy strawberry until she got chunky at 6 months and I couldn’t heave her up the front steps any longer. The bugaboo lasted until she was 3.5 and I was never very careful with it. I missed it a lot when we didn’t need it anymore!

It’s still in the loft just in case I go wild and have another baby.

We got a Fox 3 - almost identical to the 5 and half the price.

I still use my Bugaboo Cameleon 3 with my 2.5 year old on the odd occasion. I bought the pram 7 years ago for my eldest. Once DD is done with it it will be going in the loft for hopefully DC3 someday. It is still in great condition. The only other pram we had was a cheap stroller for taking abroad. But I've always favoured the Cam as it has fantastic suspension and is so easy to push. If you don't want to spend so much you could consider getting one second hand as they're really well made and last.

Bugaboo fox. They've got the wheels with decent tread. I think the m+p range all have narrow, smooth wheels that would drive me insane on the crappy pavements we have near me

I adore our bugaboo fox and barely use our stroller as the fox is such an excellent pram. It’s so easy and comfortable to push, the basket is massive, it’s so easy to put up/down and both kids have been very happy in it. It’s lasted so well despite covering hundreds and hundreds of miles the last 4 years. The only thing that gives its age away is the handle bar, which is a little worn. Otherwise it’s still as good as new.

As someone said up thread though, you could either get an older model or look for second hand. Ours is a fox2 and it is still amazing 4 years on.

It really depends. I'd always go bugaboo if you're planning on keeping it longer term (for future children) or using it a lot.
Our eldest loved her big pram and was in it til well over 2. Our youngest hated it and was in her joie litetrax by the time she was 1 but I didn't mind as we'd already had good use out of it and then donated it to a women's charity in really good condition.
I wouldn't use either on rough terrain regularly but we don't tend to go anywhere without proper paths very often. My sister does and she has an out n about which she loves.

I know of three parents who have had the occaro (sp) pram and absolutely hated it as it's very bulky

NewbiePL · 24/04/2024 20:21

Another vote for the fox we find it’s really smooth and sturdy. I would just recommend checking it fits the boot of your car as it is quite bulky when folded down. We got ours from John Lewis and they took it down to our car and helped us fold it down to check it would fit.

Another vote for fox 5 !

We are getting a fox 5 this time. We had a mamas and papas xt2 last time and although I didn't mind it too much it was heavy and leaves got stuck in the wheels etc. I know the ocarro is more all terrain than the xt2 but the weight puts me off. Also the bugaboo sunshade is better and I had a play and it was so easy to put down. I wanted a bugaboo with my first but thought it was expensive but this time I'm going for it.

Mrsmcgarrigle · 13/11/2024 15:44

It's such a heavy pram the ocarro I can barely lift and my husband complains we are currently looking for a new pram because my back can't take it. I have owned many prams and it was one of my least favourite for older child but when younger under one it's a very nice pram. Now I find my wrists hurt a lot I don't like the straps on the big unit I just can't seem to get it right it's either too lose so she can nearly get out or it's too tight and she is whining but could be my daughter lol and recently she broke the foot holder so now it let's a huge pop. So tbh after a year u have slowly begun to hate it if I have another I would use it again til 12 months
