Hoping someone can help.

One of the brake cables broke on our Phil and Ted's sport buggy. I can't find a replacement on their site. Does anyone know where I can find one to fit or the measurements of it so I can order a replacement from Halfords or something?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Try looking on ebay, lots of used parts are sold on there. Can't see a brake cable listed right now, but maybe try different search terms.

Thanks, I tried ebay, Amazon, customer service etc. just wondering if anyone had the length etc as looks like it'll have to be a bike cable from halfords

Bike cables dont fit. The ends are quite small and both ends are pre made so it has to come with the outer as well.
Take the wheel off and remove the lock, two screws, and then replace the wheel.
Leaves the lock working on the other wheel,
I'm still loking for spares!

Hi Dave
Did you find a solution for the brakes?
Also do have pictures of there the two screws are to be removed?

Just to follow up in case any reads this.
I took the buggy to my local bike shop to see if they could fix the brake. They said that it was a sealed unit and weren’t able to access it - and would I like them isolate the brake (like Davechapmanleek has done). So all they did was pull the remaining wire and tie it down with a jubilee clip!! Which I could have done myself. For this privilege they charged me £25. I only brought the buggy for £30 on marketplace! Lesson learnt simple solutions are the best and bike shops will charge a fortune.

Further. I did actually make a new cable and did a propre repair.
However, if you push in the silver button in the middle of the wheel, the wheel comes off. You cun then unscrew the 'brake' from the axle and remove it. Then replace the wheel. Much tidier than clamping off the brake cable.

Hi can I ask what you did to repair it. Need to make the same repair on mine but not sure where to start.

I wish you well with this one.
First remove both parts of the broken cable and measure the total length.
Remove the outer cable sheath.
Buy an inner bicycle cable, ebay, Halford, bike shop, longer than the broken one and similar size wire.
This cable will have one end made off with small piece of lead. This iece of lead needs to be filed down to match one end of the old cable.

The new inner cable is then threaded through the old outer and cut to length.
You then need to solder a lug on the other end, I used the lug off off a cable crimp, as used in car maintenance.
This is then filed down to fit the other end.

Reassemble everything and job done.
Best of luck
Dave

Hi,

I bought the P&T sport buggy already used and after 2 months of use the cable broke.

It seems the buggy has a design issue with brakes, because on handlebar both side cables were half broken and I see here you also had the same issue.

Now I am trying to remove the cable in order to replace it. I know how to remove the part over the weel but I don't see how to detach the cable top end parts on handlebar.

Could you please give a hint?

Thank you.

Take the brake bar off.
There is a plastic cap over the retaining screw

Thank you for your answer.

Sorry for asking again, I just don't want to break things before I fixing them.

Please see numbers on the image:
Number 1 is a plastic cap, I can't pop off, I afread to brake it.
Number 2 is a tiny holl, nothing can catch it, I understand that it somehow hsoukd get out.
Number 3 is rotating endless.

Could you please mention by numbers?

I really can brake something and create another problem.
I very appritiate your help.

You need to remove the cover cap, item 1, use a knife around the edge to work it out. Why worry if you damage it, your pushchair is broken. There is a nut underneath that you need to hold while you undo the screw (3)
Good luck

Thank you Dave,
I was able to replace both wires with a regular bicycle gear cable (4mm/4.5mm cap), and with a help of soldering iron for one end cap. Let us see how long will it serve. The firts wire took 5h until I understood what to do, the second took 30m.
Here are few photos

Well done. Its very bad design, the bend is far too severe. Not to supply the replacement part is disgusting!
