Will I need a double buggy?

So my DS is 17months old and will be 22months old when my second is born. We rarely use the pushchair now as he such a good walker. But at the moment if he does get tired on a walk we do carry him sometimes.

I'm just wondering if a double buggy is necessary. I intend to use my baby carrier for baby as much as possible but as they get bigger/heavier they will need to be in the pushchair. The only time we'd use it is probably in shops and stuff but then i just feel like a double buggy would be so big to push round shops and stuff on my own. Or would a buggy board be better? Or is that being optimistic to expect a 22month old to stay on a buggy board?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Double all the way.
DS turns to jelly and has a tantrum? No problem in he goes...

I have 21 months between my oldest two and tried with buggy board / sling. Absolute nightmare! We bought a Phil and Ted off Facebook and it was fantastic! When we had ds3 he adored sleeping in the 'bottom' and I so wish we had got it when ds2 was born!

There’s 20 months between my two and never had a double buggy. We used a buggy board or baby was in a sling. We had a second buggy for longer weekend trips when DH was around.

Same age gap between mine and only ever had the one single buggy for both boys, never bothered with a buggy board (none available to go with my pram anyway). DS1 would go in the pram, DS2 went in the sling. They’d still nap at the same time that way, and both boys continued to nap in a toddler sling past three years old. Double buggies just look so cumbersome - I can’t fathom getting them in and out of the house or fitting them into a car.

After five years of use, the wheels literally fell off the pram and it went to the tip. The various slings we’d used were still in fabulous condition so we were able to sell them on eBay.
