Pushchair/travel system complete newbie!

Hi, I'm a first time mum and I pretty much know nothing about prams/buggys/travel systems (or anything else but I'll solve one problem at a time).

Any advice would be very welcome as I don't really know where to start. There are so many choices and variations. I've obviously never had a baby or spent any time looking after one or around anyone who has a baby so have no idea what tends to be essential and what is not needed.

One thing I'm curious about is with travel systems which have a car seat that attaches, people seem to find it handy that you can just clip the car seat into the pram so you don't have to wake up baby. But you shouldn't leave baby in the car seat for an extended period of time so I can't think of when I'd ever use this function. I'd be really interested to hear when people do use that function so I can judge if it's something that we'd find useful or not.

Thank you so much in advance!

Welcome to the minefield that is baby accessories 😂 lots of more knowledgeable people than me will be along but your question about clipping the car seat onto the frame- you're right about not using it for extended times. However I found that my 15 minute drive to the supermarket could be enough to send baby to sleep so being able to clip the seat directly onto the frame (assuming I wasn't doing a massive trolley shop, this was pre-covid so was popping to shops while on mat leave just for a change of scene on quiet days!) really useful as the journey either way plus a mooch round the shop was quite a nice duration for a nap.

Should add what I actually have- maxi Cosi Adorra with the carrycot and car seat. The carrycot was really useful as we used that downstairs instead of a moses basket, DD was)is small though so got more wear out of it than perhaps a big baby would have done. The car seat was fine and the pushchair seat is lovely although the hood not massive. I really rate Maxicosi as a brand, their customer service is really good and the outlet section on their site has genuine good deals on it.

However I have the most popular follow-on car seat, a Joie spin model, and I absolutely detest it but everyone else seems to love it so my judgement might not be the best 😂.
