Best travel system??

We're expecting our first baby, a little boy 💙
I'm really struggling with choosing a travel system or even finding a shop that stocks prams to see in person!
I fell in love with the silver cross wayfarer, but the reviews are making me have doubts (as is mother in law interfering with choice as she has offered to buy)
I also love the look of the venicci, if anyone had a venicci would be great to hear your opinion on it or the silver cross!
So we will be needing the pram for things like shopping, walking to local shop on paths and maybe occasional walk in a local park with the dog.
I want the car seat to clip on for quick dash to shop and back (30 mins max)
Needs to fit in the boot of a corsa 2014 plate
Have isofix fitting

Please please help with some reviews and advice for a new Mum lost in the world of travel systems 😂😂

I've got a mamas and papa turbo 2 which is amazing lovely carrycot and spacious seat unit

When are you due? I’m loving the look of the new oyster 3

I'm due in January...we have a corsa which is proving a problem of boot size, so have to take that into account also 😩 although carry cot will only be used short term, so need to ensure the buggy can fit in the boot for at least a year then we can trade car in 😊 soooo many prams though, it just confuses me

I completely agree. Expecting 1st baby also in jan and I’m struggling to find a travel system. People have told me to avoid silver cross and bugaboo. Doesn’t leave a lot of choice. Hubby wants an icandy but I’m really not sure that I like them. Would be grateful for suggestions also

We have a pioneer (silver cross) from our first and I’m pregnant with our second (due early 2018. Tbh we only used the travel system for roughly 9 months and then got an umbrella buggy. Most people don’t get that much use out of them. Nearly all are heavy and cumbersome but I loved the pioneer - esp the massive basket!

I have the mothercare journey in khaki for my little boy. Its fantastic, I literally can't pick any faults. I recommended it to a friend and she got it too and loves it. It comes in a three wheel and four wheel option. I went for the three wheel because I have a small boot (new shape clio). I just pop a wheel off, the carry cot sits on top and the boot closes perfectly.

Another vote here for the Mothercare Journey. We got the black, four wheeled one for our son. It has the car seat clip on ability and the pram turns into the seat when they are old enough for it. Saves space instead of having a seat unit and a carry cot.
It's also about a million pounds cheaper than the big brands but still looks good.
I'll be using it for the next baby too.

I have the Silver Cross Pioneer and I love it. I fondly refer to it as The Tank as it is rather bulky especially compared to Bugaboos.

I wasn't sure what to get either, I only knew about Bugaboos. Lots of people kept giving me advice. So I thought about a few things that I wanted from a pram and considered the options.

What are you going to be doing with the pram?

I walk everywhere. So bigger wheels are important for 'all terrain'.

A big, deep basket is also perfect for me to go food shopping.

Whilst it is on the heavier side, it isn't impossible for me to lift with DS in it. I can get it up a short flight of stairs.

I can have it outward and inward facing - inward facing was important to me.

I liked the way it moved, corners were easy!

I preferred the brake being a foot brake.

We used to have a VW Golf and whilst it did fit in the boot not much else did, but we rarely needed to travel with it so it wasn't a problem.

I've been to London a couple of times with it and every time has been fine.

The things I find annoying about it are mainly that because I have terrible spatial awareness I can never properly judge if it will fit through anything.

The Pioneer suits my life, but if I lived somewhere else it might not. If I lived in a flat and had to carry it up and down a few flights of stairs, or used the tube on a regular basis or lived in London. DS is a year old and I'm not planning on giving up using my Pioneer anytime soon.

One thing I have noticed recently that most other mums I see in my area have similar heavy duty style prams, maybe have a look at what others have whilst shopping. Generally there is a reason everyone has the same!

I know it's a pain but alot of pushchairs now come with one click removable wheels so it's easier to fit bigger ones into smaller boots.

I have a cosatto giggle 2, love the funky designs so does ds, he outgrew carrycot by about 3 months - so now need to find somewhere to store that where it won't get damaged (wish I'd looked into carrycot that can change into seat unit rather than 2 separates). Ds is now 6 months old and when in the seat unit his head is close to the hood when it's closed, so if I put a can in it would touch his head 🤕 love how well it steers, basket isn't huge/very easy to access but that's not an issue for my needs.

With my dd I started with a Quinny buzz, I loved it. Again basket wasn't huge but I didn't mind I had a clip on the handle to put bags on (which is what broke the collapse mechanism, resulting in me needing a new pushchair)

I then got the mamas and papa's armadillo xt, brilliant buggy. Was more sturdy than an umbrella and had a large seat, big basket and hood. I now believe they do it as a travel system.

I had the bugaboo cameleon 3 in a small car just had to pop one wheel off was really simple.

My friend had the venicci and swore by it. Said it was great value for money and she would buy again and again.

Im due January too and we have ordered the mee go milano. Love it but obviously not used it yet.

We have a 3 door fiesta. Didnt actually try pram in boot but shop assistant assured us it would fit and can pop wheels off if needs be.

Was between mee go / venicci / bebcar for us as i wanted a decent carry cot as baby will be sleeping in that downstairs.

I'm would also recommend having a look at the mee-go milano sport. It's probably not as popular as some of the names already mentioned but I think it's a great travel system. It is on the big side but I'm not a fan of the low, small prams. It has a nice big carrycot which doubles as a crib, it's sturdy, has bouncy suspension (handy to help get baby off to sleep) plus it looks good - I've had lots of compliments on it. The wheels come off too so this would free up some boot space.

Love the look. We have opted for dove grey. Have you had yours long? How are you finding it?

I have the uppababy Vista and love it. A friend fit it in the boot of a fiesta with a wheel off so i imagine the Corsa would be ok.

Ds is four months now and the pram looks as good as new, the fabric is really good quality. We opted for dove grey too. It's easy to collapse and the chassis isn't too heavy considering the size - I had a section and was able to lift it in and out car from four weeks post op.

The only thing I would criticise is the mee go isofix base isn't compatible with other makes of carseats so when we eventually need to get a bigger one, a new base will have to be purchased if we don't opt for a mee-go carseat. But that may be the same for other pram makes. Depends if you choose to have an isofix of course!

Another bugaboo cameleon here. I think you see so many around because they are just brilliant but I am clearly biased

I loved our mutsy 4rider lite for my eldest, had to sell it as we needed a double but it was hands down the BEST travel system. I now have a single and a double baby jogger city mini gt which are great for when baby is forward facing (I turned mine around 14/15 months as I loved having them face me). I would find a Mutsy 2nd hand then get a Baby Jogger for when baby is about 18 months.

We went to mothercare today and tried the wayfarer in the car and it fit perfect ❤️ suits our needs perfect too and it's compact which is what I liked...I also fell in love with the classiness of it as it's a beaut...we looked at sooooo many prams, and kept coming back to this one, and to top it off it was on a sale and reduced by £200 so was meant to be ❤️

Thanks @Dmt80. Is he still fitting into the carrycot at 4 months? Seen a few threads on here lately about other prams where carrycot was too small by 8 weeks and that was a big reason we went for the mee go as it looked much bigger.

We haven't got the isofix base yet but i did want to add it so worth knowing, thanks.

Glad you found a pram that suits OP. Always a good sign if it was the one you kept going back to .

@Rarfy yes he still fits, there's plenty of space for him to be in the carrycot for another six weeks or so and he's quite a long baby. He enjoys his naps in and he pram and lots of space for flailing arms! The back rest inclines so you can sit them up as they get a little more aware of their surroundings if you want to delay using the pushchair part for as long as you can.

What colour did you get, OP? I got the Chelsea Wayfarer from Mothercare- the kind of tweed colour. I was also attracted to it as a classy pram

Dd is nearly 1 and we haven’t replaced it with a smaller pram- it suits our needs really well. I think it’s a great all rounder- it’s not built like a tank but it’s still solid and very robust.

I would only have a silver cross. We had the pioneer as I preferred the bigger wheels and bigger basket. Highly recommend it

I would go for what you like OP, especially as it was reduced! We had the Mamas and Papas Sola2 for my DS and I'm due our second in February, there are definitely more stylish prams around but it was massively reduced and we only used it until he was 10 months and too big for the infant car seat, then replaced it with a Maclaren buggy. I had to take a wheel off (easily done) to fit in the boot of our 5 door fiesta but when we reuse it this time round for DC2, we'll have an SUV style car so it'll be luxury not unclipping the wheel.
