Mumsnet takes a First Look at the Bugaboo Fox

AmyGMumsnet · 19/03/2018 17:26

Following on from the popular Donkey, Bee and Cameleon models comes the latest addition to the Bugaboo family - the Fox.

We'll be reviewing this travel system in the coming months, but in the meantime a few MNHQ mums have taken a look and offered up an initial verdict. Click here to see what we thought, and let us know your thoughts on the thread.

At first glance the Fox looked like my dream travel system and I considered selling my Donkey Mono for one. But now I've heard you can't recline the seat without taking babe out... I've had an immediate change of heart. My DS requires constant change of recline based on how desperately he wants to see out, sleep, etc so this would be a bloody nightmare.

And no rain cover seems bizarre at that price?!

NorthernLurker · 19/03/2018 19:20

So if your child falls asleep you can't slip it back? That's really silly. My pushchair days are behind me and my bugaboo cam is doing great service for my nephew, ten years after I bought it, I love bugaboo but this seems a bit of a backwards step. Wider is not better. No rain cover included is just tight.

darceybussell · 19/03/2018 19:54

I don't think that's correct. I've tried it out in a shop and it reclines the same as any other pushchair, plus you can do it one handed.

SparklesandBubbles · 19/03/2018 20:32

Looks stylish and the Fox looks incredibly like the Cybex Priam. This was the buggy system we went for in the end as I felt the bugaboo was too low and had too little storage space.

mrssmith1415 · 19/03/2018 20:50

I bought a buffalo in January before realising that they are being discontinued to make way for the Fox. After seeing the fox I’m glad I have a buff though! I’m not a fan. Especially that it’s the same price as the buffalo but dosent include a rain cover?! To me it would have made more sense to introduce a lightweight double, like a double version of the bee.

buckbeak · 19/03/2018 20:59

I've got the Fox, you can recline it with a child in the seat. It's the best bugaboo I've had. Definitely worth the money, and would definitely choose it over the buffalo.

buckbeak · 19/03/2018 21:00

@mrssmith1415 it does come with a rain cover.

mrssmith1415 · 19/03/2018 21:05

@buckbeak ah my mistake then :) each to their own I’m just not a fan

InvisibleUnicorn · 19/03/2018 21:54

So it either does or does not recline while baby is in it.

And it either does and does not come with a rain cover.

😂

chandlersfraud · 19/03/2018 22:16

Wow if this is meant to be promoting the Fox then Mumsnet has cocked up. The points that stick out to me from the MN review are:

  1. You can't recline it with the child in (that might not be accurate)
  2. It doesn't come with a rain cover
(That too might not be accurate)
  1. It's heavier than the bee and chameleon (loved my 2007 chameleon)
  2. It's wider than the bee and chameleon.

Wow, sounds great. Hmm

KerplunkChampion · 19/03/2018 22:21

Should have made a double Bee 🤷‍♀️

RyanStartedTheFire · 19/03/2018 22:59

I've just seen a video from Bugaboo HQ of the Fox being reclined with the seat attached. Did anyone actually touch the pushchair MNHQ?

SickofThomasTheTank · 19/03/2018 23:39

Horrible looking pram. Bugaboos are so, so flimsy and poorly made. I personally wouldn't give this a second glance

theSFclub · 20/03/2018 08:50

Sickofthomas, I don't know what bugaboos you've been buying but they are well known for their sturdiness and longevity and I've known many people use them for 3+children! They command such a high price because of their build quality, they go on forever, you only have to look on eBay to see that people are still selling bugaboos in good condition that are probably 10 years old. Do you secretly work for Icandy? Wink

TheGrumpySquirrel · 20/03/2018 09:49

Well I've just bought one , I physically went and tried it out (& the others, & cybex Priam & uppababy vista/Cruz ) and I absolutely love it. There was no question vs the other models. Looks way more modern than the Cameleon with a higher seat (so you can access the storage area easier) and sturdier wheels. Not much bigger, it still feels compact. It's being delivered in July so I can't comment on what it's like with a baby in it yet! I hope it comes with a rain cover... off to check my order details now!

GrumpyGoose · 20/03/2018 10:12

@theSFclub agree, I bought my donkey mono second hand, 7 years old. Looks like it's maybe a year old at most!

NorthernLurker · 20/03/2018 10:16

I bought my cam in 2007. Used it for dd3 so a good 3 years hard use. Hung it up in garage for 6 years. Got it out, washed covers and it looked like new for my nephew who has been in it for a year. The build quality is excellent.

Rodent01 · 20/03/2018 10:25

Flimsy??! I was given a Frog which had done 3 children and now my two, it’s oldest occupant is now 13 and I’m about to pass it on. They are like oxes!!!!!

IAmLucy · 20/03/2018 15:12

Bugaboos are anything but flimsy.

Remind me to never get Mumsnet to plug anything on my behalf Grin

PrimalLass · 20/03/2018 15:43

I adored my Bugaboo Frog. Brilliant buggy.

64BooLane · 20/03/2018 19:12

I’m not even in the market for a buggy, but Grin at this thread.

InvisibleUnicorn · 20/03/2018 19:16

@64BooLane me neither but this is making me think I ought to have another just for the pram 😂

BigRedBoat · 20/03/2018 20:17

In the videos I've seen of this it reclines with the child in it, not sure why MN thinks it doesn't?

TakeMe2Insanity · 20/03/2018 21:59

Agree they should have made a bee double alternatively a bugaboo travel. A combo of the yoyo zen and the gb pockit with bugaboo wheels and style would have been an awesome combo. Oh and rain covers and shades mandatory!

HobnobBob · 21/03/2018 10:12

Flimsy? The Bee is the best thing I’ve ever bought. Still going after 6 years.
