Tandem pushchair for a newborn & toddler

I’m after some recommendations / experienced advice if anyone can help? I’m due #2 in August, DD1 will be 2.5. I’ve been to and fro re whether to get a double pushchair or or not but have decided I will because my current stroller isn’t suitable for a newborn so I’ll be buying something anyway. I’d like a single that will parent face but also convert to tandem as and when required.
My current stroller is an oyster zero, I love it so have been looking at the Babystyle egg / oyster max. The egg doesn’t look like there would be much room for the second child as a tandem and I don’t love the look of the max as a single. I’m also quite drawn towards an icandy peach? Does anyone have any experience with these 3 or any similar recommendations?! I’m not a fan of the Phil and teds style and fell out with my Jané Trider which I had originally so I don’t think I’ll be going back to Jane.
Any help / advice gladly received! Xx

Have you tried them in person? I have twins and often read about people ditching icandy pushchairs fairly early on as the seats are fairly small. Also a tandem is really heavy to push when the older child is in the front seat so make sure you check the possible configurations (difficult as you ideallh want

I have the 2017 model vista tandem.
Its stylish and lovely looking but heavy. Pushes well and has great functions, a huge basket.
I'm counting down the days until my eldest can stand on a Buggy board and then it'll be used as a single.
The tandem weight is its con.

I would avoid the Oyster Max! We had it for our newborn and 17 month old and I found it very cumbersome and heavy- I struggled to get it over curbs and steps (even just one or two) were a nightmare. We very quickly replaced it (though we then went with a side by side, which I realise isn't what you are after, but which I found easier to manoeuvre

Is the weight a problem when pushing or is it for getting in and out of cars etc? This one will only really be for walks from home so if it pushes well, the weight isn’t really a problem. I’ve tried them all in store but I’m well aware that it’s a completely different ball game once away from the lovely smooth store floor!
Littleskittle is yours the original max or the max 2?
I’ve also just spotted the BabyStyle hybrid which ticks quite a few boxes but it looks so flimsy

Mine was the max 2. To be fair it folds really easily for car so great from that point of view. Also worth noting that we gave up on it after about 3 months so had only ever really used it with the car seat (nearest to me) and toddler seat (further away). It seemed to make it very long which which was why it was so unwieldy. I literally had to put my full weight on handle to get it up onto even low curbs.

Maybe with another configuration or using the two proper seats rather than car seat, it would be ok?? I'm also v short and a bit of a weakling so maybe be that has something to do with how much I hated it. But then again my 6'1 husband wasn't a fan either. They're now 1 and 2.5 and we have the out n about nipper double which is so light and I love it...but then that one is a pain to fold up, and has air tyre which puncture easily.... so it's swings and roundabouts! Good luck finding one you like!

That makes sense actually, I can’t imagine my toddler wanting to sit in the back where she can’t see so id be trying to lift her up at the end of a pivot. I might go and have another look at the egg, it’s more compact and perhaps the space isn’t a massive issue as we’ll only be using it as a tandem for 6 months or so (and my friend has one so I could borrow her carrycot and save a bit!)

Take a look at the Bebetto 42. It's made by the same company as Venicci travel systems (I've had mine a year and liked it although a few niggly things which I guess you're going to get with all of them).

We're going to take the chance and order one from Prams.net for DC2. I like the fact there is so much room on it.

I’ve got exactly the same gap and was talked into getting an Uppababy Vista which I thought was totally over extravagant at the time.

It’s proven invaluable and is the best baby purchase we’ve made (and this is the third baby so there’s been a few). It is heavy when it’s doubled up- but I actually think it’s my three year old that causes that! I’m glad they’re not side by side because he’s a whopper and would pull it to one side. The basket is huge- and you’re going to need that with all the blooming junk you need to trail everywhere with you.

It splits into pieces so I find it easy to get in and out of the boot. The sun shades are fantastic and it pushes beautifully. The carrycot is one that is safe for overnights which we used as a Moses basket which cuts down on clutter. It’s bloody expensive though.

We bought a lie flat car seat. Wouldn’t do that again! Wouldn’t recommend unless there was a very specific need for it or you are a power lifter.

We had Uppababy vista for 1 and I loved it - should have stuck with it for 2, but a bit late now!
