I spend hours looking for an all in one travel system but never know which one to go with, does anyone have any suggestions of good ones under £500? Thanks

Personally I'd take a look at car seats that fit your car with decent safety ratings then move from there.

Cybex and Maxi Cosi are good seats in my opinion and you can get lots of outand to accommodate them depending on your needs :)

*prams not outand Hmm

Bluebelltulip · 24/01/2018 19:37

Joie chrome has been great.

YerAuntFanny · 24/01/2018 19:40

The Joie Chrome DLX system might be worth a look too.

I haven't had one personally but I know a few people who have had the Chrome and absolutely loved it and the seat it's decently rated too. Absolute bargain at £450 for everything you'll need!

Ooh I didn't even see Bluebelltulips reply, well timed 😂

I disagree actually - infant car seats are much of a muchness and you'd struggle to find one which doesn't fit in a given car unless you've got extremely short seatbelts, which tends not to be a thing on modern cars.

Is there anything specific you want OP? For example:

  • Do you want a separate carrycot or would you be happier with a seat which lies flat from birth?
  • Do you need an extra small fold e.g. to fit in a small car?
  • Do you plan to use it mainly on smooth surfaces (pavement, indoor shops) or also on rough terrain like woods, cobbles, etc? (Smooth = smaller wheels, less suspension fine, Rough = larger wheels, suspension beneficial)
  • Do you want the option of a parent facing seat once they're at the sitting up stage or not bothered about this?
  • Do you need something really compact for travelling/using public transport?
  • Are you definitely planning on having another DC fairly soon or definitely just the one? Undecided?
  • Are you willing to look second hand for a bargain or just want the simplicity of ordering from a known retailer?
  • Lastly, does your budget include the car seat, and do you want/need a clicky base for the car - and if so do you need isofix or seatbelt fit? (The combination of these can eat into the budget quite a bit.)

I agree with the other posters though - Joie Chrome is a fantastic price for what you get! But if you're not bothered about parent facing and/or other factors are more important you've got other options to look at too.

I would also look at the Cosatto range just because their fabrics are stunning - probably marmite but if you like them, they're really hard to resist! Mothercare seem to have a deal with the car seat ATM so you might be able to get a set for under £500.

pemberleypearl · 24/01/2018 19:51

I have Mothercare Journey (4 wheels) and live it.

Papalazarou30 · 24/01/2018 19:59

I have an Ickle Bubba stomp V3 and thought I was getting a good deal as it included everything (carry cot, car seat, isofix base, pushchair, footmuff etc etc) for less than £500. Bought it on the recommendation of SIL who loves hera.

However after using for three months I have had loads of issues. Wheels buckling, handle comes off, car seats getting stuck so I would defo say avoid this one. Currently in talks with Ickle bubba and hoping to get a refund but we'll see.

If your based in the North of England mamas and papas have a factory shop in Huddersfield which apparently have some great bargains also a lot Toys R Us are having closing down sales in selected stores with 30% off so might be worth checking them out too xx

iatethepies · 25/01/2018 13:09

I have the mothercare journey in 4 wheels sand it's great. A real bargain at £300

Sunshinegirl82 · 27/01/2018 14:38

I've heard good things about the mamas and papas flip xt, it's slightly over your budget but only a bit and it includes the isofix base etc
