Holiday pushchair for heavy baby

Tinks177 · 22/08/2017 16:31

Can anyone recommend a pushchair to take on holiday with us? My 7.5 month old is a heavy baby (around 11kg) and most the recommended holiday pushchairs I've looked at only seem to go up to 15kg. We're hoping to get something that will do a few holidays.

Need something reasonably light (but sturdy enough to hold a heavy baby), comfortable enough to sleep in and with a good hood.

Any advice would be great.

Thanks

Most silvercross go up to 25kg. I love my zest.

Baby Jogger City Mini is fab.

I second baby jogger city mini. It is an absolute joy!

We have a Mountain Buggy Nano, which I love, but my baby won't sleep in it.

Forgot to add the zest is the lightest buggy I could find, lies flat and has a huge hood. I have stopped using my Uppababy Cruz and use the zest all the time now.

MacLaren pushchairs are great. Quite light, easy to fold, good quality, good sun hood, comfy and recline to several positions, some have extendable handlebars too so taller people can push them comfortably.

Baby jogger city mini without a shadow of a doubt. Best buggy (holiday and otherwise) ever

Thanks everyone, that's really helped to narrow it down a little bit. Liking the look of the BJCM... the price not so much!

Seriously look at the 'iSafe Sail' it's amazing! Lightweight, folds tiny HUGE hood with extending side panels for shade too, lies totally flat and really really cheap! I am literally a pram a holic! I have a problem I have had 16 in the last year! So feel I am honestly qualified to say that it is the best stroller i can find on the market! I bought it for a holiday buggy to the USA and have since been using it more than anyt of my other pushchairs and I currently have an iCandy Peach 2016,a Bugaboo Cameleon and a Mamas and Papas Sola City! The Sail cost £82 brand new delivered from iSafe website!!! Comes with raincover and bootcover too (which is a showerproof padded footmuff!)

There's something about Maclarens that makes them easier to tip - this does mean they fall over when you have shopping on the handles and your toddler gets out but it also means its much more manoeuvrable and egronomic - better for your back too.

Thanks guys.

I ended up ordering the Cybex Eternis M3, which I got for £130 reduced from £330! It goes up to 25kg which is perfect. I almost ordered the BJCM but couldn't justify the price difference when the Cybex seems so similar.

I've used my icandy strawberry from birth, now using the seat unit, but it accepts upto 25 kgs, it does fold with the seat unit on also, there are lighter buggies for flying with but strawberry is a full size stroller easily taking the weight.

Hi Tinks, how are you finding the eternis? I'm debating it as I have an ancient 2nd hand bjcm that is about to give up. The eternis seems very similar and much cheaper.

Tinks177 · 11/09/2017 08:18

Hi Marsis,

I haven't taken it away with us yet but have used it a couple of times now and I am really impressed. I've obviously never used the BJCM to compare it too but I would defintely recommend it. It's not particularly light when lifting in and out of the car but does feel light when pushing it, even with my heavy daughter in it. The hood is huge and it comes with a rain cover which is great as I'm sure it was extra on the BJCM. I love how easy it is to put up and down.

Two of my friends have now also got it are love it too!
