M&P armadillo flip XT on rough terrain?

Hey!

I'm looking to probably get a mamas and papas armadillo flip XT for my first baby. It says that it's all terrain but was keen to hear from others who have this pram.

How good is it on rough terrain/ cobbles/ uneven surfaces? Is it ok for woodland pathed walks?

I was thinking if I was going for pretty rough or hilly walks then I would be putting the baby in a sling.

i have the flip - not the xt. as far as i can see the only difference is its slightly smaller!

its rubbish on woodland type walks as leaves just gather in the wheels it does ok on cobbled paths and uneven paths - very easy to push up steep kerbs etc

I've bought the Armadillo Flip XT but haven't used it yet because baby isn't here yet!

The Flip XT is meant to be more suitable for cross-terrain than the Flip. It has bigger wheels, for example.

Ugh the leaves always catch in the wheels! Drives me crazy. I do like it otherwise though.

Had a wee look at the mothercare. Lie the teal but can't find anywhere that sells the teal footmuff

I ve looked at this and decided against it due to reading too many reviews about the basket dragging on the floor when it has things in it

Is there a Mamas & Papas shop near you? We got a teal footmuff in their shop, but it was a couple of months ago and it was on sale, so they might not have them any more.

You could always get the footmuff in a different colour (black for example).

Has anyone got the cybex aton q car seat that comes with it? I can't find too many reviews on it. Keen to find out how safe it is and how easy to get baby out etc.

Not sure wether or not to just buy the pram and carrycot now and buy car seat later down the line when I've had time to research them more. I know the pram also has a maxi cosi car seat adaptor.

We got the Cybex Aton Q car seat. It's a Which? Best Buy and they gave it a score of 81%:

We don't actually have isofix in our car, sadly, but we bought the isofix base anyway because you can also fit it with a seatbelt. I think the Aton Q is safer than the Maxi Cosi when used just with a seatbelt (although they are both very safe when used with the isofix base).

You can buy adapters for the Flip XT that are compatible with the Cybex Aton Q, we've bought some.

I've love my Armadillo Flip XT! It's been pretty good on all terrains so far with woodland walks being pretty much ok... my little girl looked like she was having a bit of a bumpy ride but didn't seem to mind.

I'm about to take it to Prague for e week which is all cobbles! So I'll let you know how it handles there, also taking an ergo 360 which might turn out to be easier to use through the streets.

Love the basket I've had loads in it, and never had a dragging problem.

I've also got the Aton q car seat with the isofix base. It's not the lightest of car seat but I'm pretty much totally happy with it. It's well built, looks good and the ISO fix base makes it so easy. The only thing is I'm not sure how it's supposed to last up to 15kg. My Little One is 6.5 months and weighing 8.5kg and it's starting to look snug especially if she has a winter cardi on

Not sure if you still are reading this but.....

We have the normal flip not the xt and it's rubbish on gravel or bumpy terrain. I've not tried the xt but the wheels didn't look that different to me so not sure how much better it would be? I do love that it can parent face and world face, the massive hood, the big basket, and how easily and small it folds up though. Oh, one more thing is that I don't find it very easy to steer one handed which was disappointing as I thought as long as it had a single handle it would be easy to do this. My maclaren triumph umbrella stroller is easier to push one handed! A lot of this might be different for the xt so feel free to disregard.

We also had the Cybex aton q and I really liked it. It is quite striking (we got the orange one) and again I really like the hood. It also tested really well and has the things you pull out for additional side impact protection which is the main reason we bought it over a maxi cosi seat. The one big negative I have though is that it is SOOO heavy! I used to struggle to carry it with baby in it from fairly early on.
