What to buy for holiday?

I have a Joolz Geo but would like to pick up something second hand cheap to take on holiday with us so that the Geo doesn't get trashed by luggage handlers.

DS will be 5 months by the time we go- is this old enough to go in a normal stroller or we will still need a carry cot type pram?

Most strollers can be used from birth (check the specs for each individual one gig look at though). Just get one with an extending leg rest. I had my third baby in a stroller from birth, so much easier than a big pram when you have older children to consider too.

You can't beat a Maclaren for quality and a solid backrest on the seat (cheap strollers tend to have flimsy seats and a 'strap and toggle' recline mechanism, I've seen so many babies slumped down in cheap strollers which can't be good for their backs). Try and get a travel bag for it too, we've never had a pram get broken on a plane but they do get dirty.

We got a hauck one from Aldi. £23, lies completely flat, big basket, ok to push, has done us 3 holidays so far. Seems pretty indestructible. We've not bothered with a bag but do use one for our car seat.
