Similar to Phil and Teds Navigator double?

Hoping someone can suggest some options for me here.
We have a tall and fairly heavy 21mo DD (although not had her weighed since 16mo when she was 28lbs). Height/weight generally on 91st/75th centile.

We are due DC2 in August and have been looking for a double pushchair. I don't anticipate DD will need to be in it at all times, but I really want the option to have her strapped in if need be. I also would much prefer an inline double rather than side by side.

When we went to see prams at our local centre, DD was too tall for a lot of the seats (ie couldn't get her head under the hood). Due to this we decided that a Phil and Teds Navigator would be our best best (taller seat, bigger weight capacity).

However, I'm struggling to find one locally second hand at a price we can afford (preferably under £250) in a decent condition, so I wondered if anyone can recommend a similar pushchair that is maybe a bit cheaper in the first place? The earlier Phil and Teds seem to come up more often but the Navigator seems to have ironed out a lot of issues with the previous models according to reviews (dangerous hinge, complicated recline method, seats too close together).

Anyone any ideas?

Sorry, OP, but you're going to really struggle with that budget. My DS was born 13 wks ago when his sister (tall and quite heavy) was 22 months. We bought an iCandy peach blossom from eBay for £320 and we had tried for months to find cheaper. Phil & Ted were out of our league and too long Our daughter looks ridiculously big in the icandy and I'm completely fed up. The pram itself is pretty much perfect except for these damned small standard seats. Who are all these tiny toddlers??

Funny it was the icandy peach Blossom I wanted, then when I saw her in it, it was just ridiculously sized! I'm actually quite glad it isn't just her (sorry!)
Dammit I thought the budget might be a problem. Sigh.

I don't think any of the cheaper copies are as good or as versatile as a Phil & Teds, I would keep looking for second hand.
Otherwise there is the Hauck duett, Hauck freerider, Graco Trekko duo which are similar, but cheaper.

Is there that much difference between the Navigator and the older models? I bought an Explorer for £80 and then got a reclining Sport double seat, also second-hand, which fits fine. They are versatile and hard-wearing buggies - I'd hold out for one if poss and not worry too much about the condition (the fabrics can be washed).

I got a second hand Navigator (older version) for under £250 - it wasn't local but the seller agreed to send it to me for a bit of extra £ (was still under £250 total). Do keep looking and ask people if they are willing to send even if they don't say expressly say so.

In terms of alternatives, you could look at the Mountain Buggy +1 but no idea how that compares on price and there won't be nearly as many around.

Re Laquila's post - that is also an alternative, but make sure you get a reclining doubles seat (ie Sport model, maybe Dash? Navigator doubles seat only fits Navigator) as otherwise you'd likely find that your DC2 outgrows the layflat bit before he/she can sit upright in the doubles seat. Especially if you have long DC! Actually the older models can have more room between the front & back seats than the Navigator.
