Out n About Nipper Double v4 - What car fits this?!

Twins due in July, which came as a bit of a shock. We'd whittled down the double buggies to a Nipper Double v4, which we bought today. Currently we both drive small cars, one of which was we were planning to change for something that'll take the entire forthcoming tribe plus buggy. The box fitted in a Fiesta, although only vertically with the shelf out.

I was considering a Focus as that car but discovered upon trying one (a 2nd hand one in the current shape) that the buggy doesn't fit flat in. Admittedly This was tried in the box rather than the buggy out, although as the buggy fits the box diagonally and with the wheels off then the size should be fairly representative.

So for those who have this particular buggy, what do you drive and how much of a mither is getting the buggy in and out of the boot? Do you have to take the parcel shelf out etc? Ideally I'd like to get something that takes the buggy flat with wheels still on.

I have a Nipper double, it fits in my Ford Fiesta with the wheel taken off.

I have a fiesta currently also and got it back from the shop in it, but it was a parcel shelf out job. Ideally I wanted something that it'll fit in flat in its entirety without having to take the parcel shelf out. Even tried it in a current shape Focus and it was too long flat to fit.

We had a golf with our double nipper. Both wheels came off and the buggy fitted flat in the boot so you could load the rest of your shopping/luggage etc on top. We had a polo before that and it just squeezed in but not flat so it didn't work really to the point that we never put it in that car and just used single buggy and sling.

I should just add, taking the wheels off was so easy, it wasn't a problem at all. I think you'd probably need an estate to get it in with wheels on.

We used to have a focus, now we have an Ibiza st (estate) which is smaller overall but with deeper boot. I would look at that kind of thing; Ibiza, Fabia estate, Clio tourer etc.

Fwiw I'm with you on not removing the parcel shelf and it fitting whole, no removing wheels.

We're considering estates although it's also what my other half is comfy with as it's her car we're changing and she is more used to small cars. Zafira and Cmax are also on the radar. As you've noted, it's the depth of the boot that seems to be key.

Ended up buying a used C-Max in the end. After some research I also worked out it should fit a Golf and the Focus model prior to the current one (the Mk2) but wouldn't have been room for much else (about 4-5" space left up to the parcel shelf). So opted for the C-Max for the extra space as there wasn't all that much difference in cost.

It'd definitely be helpful though if manufacturers actually listed boot dimensions rather than just how many litres capacity. Felt a right odd ball going round car lots with a tape measure!

Agree with doreta....an estate or people carrier likely only boot to fit it in with wheels on. I had the older style scenic and the v1 nipper double and it went in there flat with wheels on , also point worth considering, people carriers tend to have flat loading boot spaces (prob a technical term for that.....)!!! if you can imagine what I mean, ie with no ledge to have to haul. Pram over into boot space, I found the nippers width more a faff when lifting than its weight and the easy load boot made it easy to get in and out, it's a super buggy, so easy to push (I had toddler and baby in mine) best buggy I've ever had! Much less hassle than having to fix seats on and off a chassis.
