Baby has outgrown carrycot at 8 weeks!

We have a Cosatto Giggle which I really like, but my baby is enormous (91st centile) and takes up the whole length of the carrycot and I doubt we'll get another week out of it. However the pushchair attachment says it's suitable from six months. What on earth am I meant to do until then? It does lie flat but has a sort of bucket seat shape that wouldn't be ideal at this age, I've heard of wedges being used to fill this but can't find anything online. Has anyone else had this predicament?

I did buy a second hand Bebecar with a huge carrycot but the whole thing is the size of a small hatchback and won't fit in and out of my front door without being taken apart and collapsed which is quite cumbersome and really not ideal when you're trying to wrangle a baby at the same time.

We do use a sling (we have a connecta which is great) but I have a back problem and can only carry for limited periods and not at all when it's really bad.

Any ideas?

Not helpful but at least you got 8 weeks out of it! DS went in his about 3 times as he had reflux so laying flat was a no no for us.

We had to use the car seat attached to the pram frame until he was big enough for the buggy part.

We had the sola city which also has a bucket seat so when ds grew out of carry cot we got the wedge they sell www.mamasandpapas.com/product-sola-city-newborn-liner/159246200/type-i/ but I'm not sure if it would fit or not? Perhaps call cosatto?

I've just emailed Cosatto. They were very helpful before when I had concerns about the recalls for the chassis (mine wasn't affected but they collected it, checked it and returned it anyway free of charge).

That wedge might work, I'll have to pop into M&P with the pushchair to see if it'd fit if Cosatto don't have any better ideas. I had a quick google and can't find many other people complaining that the carrycot was too small which is quite surprising as it's tiny, but I hadn't realised till I actually had a baby to put in it!

Cosatto's reply was basically "tough shit". Helpful...

I'm not entirely sure what you expected Cosatto to do? Your baby has grown out of it?!

I can't imagine any baby being able to fit in it for six months though so there's probably loads of people stuck at the in between stage with no usable pram. It's tiny. Seems rather a stupid design.

Cosatto will view the carrycot as outgrown when the baby is heavier than the max weight stated in the instructions usually it's 9kg. A 91st centile baby is 61cm or thereabouts, the giggle carrycot is 75lx35wx20d according to pushchair trader so you may need to redefine your idea of outgrown. That or buy a wedge, fwiw that does work very well for the inbetween stage, which does often occur but more usually around 4-5 months when high centile babies are getting up to 70cm +

This is a genuine question, as like I said up thread we hardly used out carrycot bit at all due to reflux and inability to lie flat, but how many babies are actually content to lie flat in a pram at 6 months?

Good question. Don't know, 1 out of 3 of mine was still happy at 6 months, absolutely no idea if that's typical or not.

Ds is in pushchair with wedge at 6 months very happily flat and will fall asleep every time we go out!

My dd went in her carrycot 3 times when she was tiny and after that wouldn't go in without screaming! I used a sling until 4 months when I started using the bucket seat for short trips - I know not recommended but she was learning to sit unaided then and was much happier in the seat. I wish i'd known - I wouldn't have wasted the money on the carrycot!
