Clueless FTM even after months of looking for right buggy - please help!

I've been looking for ageeees for a pushchair/buggy/travel system whatever they're all called and am still no closer to knowing what I need. I don't drive so need a collapsable one for the bus, but can have one with a car seat as my fiancé does. I walk a lot, both on smooth pavement, in town and on normal gravel. Does any particular brand spring to mind? Any opinions/help would be much appreciated! x

Baby joggers have one handed fold which is extremely good for public transport.

Baby jogger city mini. You'll need to get the car seat adaptors (and perhaps a bassinet) but you'll be sorted for years to come.

Baby zen yoyo 0+. Then buy a 0-4 year car facing car seat that stays in car. Both last until pram and 5 point harness car seat no longer needed. The baby zen pram is the only one that folds small enough you can carry on shoulder like bag and take on a plane as hand luggage. So if bus full can fold pram and Pop by feet as small enough and have baby on lap

The baby joggers are too long when reclined to fit behind pole on most buses

Baby Jogger City Mini, possibly GT version if you do a lot of gravelly/off road stuff, but the normal version is much more streamlined for public transport.

I have never had a problem with my BabyJoggerCityMini on a bus.

Bike- might just be London buses then. There are x2 spaces and the jogger will only fit in one closest to door then as the other near stairs has pole in way. My bugaboo chameleon fitted but the jogger didn't

Not a specific brand suggestion but we got a travel system second hand and used for the first couple of months then sold it once we'd worked out what we really needed / what worked for us. Because we'd bought second hand and then resold it only cost us thirty quid in the end. We've ended up with an off-road, jogging thingie (BOB by britax, love it, completely perfect for us) which we wouldn't have thought we wanted before having our DD. Would recommend eBay and Gumtree!

They're ok on Huddersfield buses , but their joy is how easy they are to fold on buses.

Thanks guys! Are they all suitable from birth? I don't think I'd be missing out if I don't have a carrycot will I? I can't use a baby sling/carrier as I have epilepsy so it would just be the buggy and car seat?x

I would get a separate car seat. I don't like travel systems, as in the early months I think it's best for baby to lie flat in the buggy, not be squished up. I think the travel systems are for people who are mostly driving, but then just arrive at shops and use buggy.

If you want to go for a day out with the baby in a buggy, they might sleep and a lie flat buggy would be better.

It's just pram from birth you need. The car seat will stay in car as not recommended for baby to stay in for any length of time ( like Pop to doctor from car).

Most are from birth, but some will say seat from 6+ months in which case you would have to add bassinet/ carrycot

Your best getting one that just lies flat from birth without carrycot as many grow out in weeks. You can add sheepskin/ pram footmuff for comfort

I've got a baby jogger city mini. I got adapters for a maxicosi car seat, and I did use a carrycot for the first few months. You can buy a secondhand carrycot for buttons, and they will have hardly been used. The pushchair also folds down to a pretty flat position. It's super cosy, my toddler sleeps well in it.

It's a great pushchair, and fine for buses. Easy to fold and unfold.

Depends on your budget. I have a mothercare basic umbrella fold buggy that is suitable from birth. Goes on the bus, gravel, in the park on the grass etc. Separate car seat. Also have a nicer, bigger, 3 wheeler buggy for dog walks. I tend to use that whenever I can as you can push one handed. Trickier on the bus though.
