Phil and Teds - what are these buckles for?

Can anyone tell me what these buckles are for at the back of the main seat? (See picture.) I'm talking about the upper set of buckles hanging loose at the side in the picture. They don't fasten and I can't work out what purpose they serve and it's driving me nuts! The instruction booklet doesn't say. They can't be there for no reason surely? Or am I being really dense and missing something really obvious?!?!?

Not a clue, my only guess is bringing the seat into a more upright position but if they don't fasten then it can't be... Someone be along shortly who will know I presume.

On the older style seats without the plastic backing they made it sit more upright. Right pita to do up though

Ah OK. In theory that sounds right littleducks but there is no give or stretch and there is absolutely no way those buckles will fasten!

Is this an old sport? If so, those buckles are the reason I ended up selling mine and getting a baby jogger.

To do them up and have the seat as upright as possible which my daughter wanted you have to have unnatural upper body strength, take the baby out of the buggy, turn the buggy up upside down and do the clips up that way. In the 6 months I had the spory I managed it twice.

No this is the Navigator v1 and is not even that old. The second set of buckles (clipped in the picture) are what make the seat upright so that's why these buckles seem redundant!

I have an older sport. To sit seat fully upright I have to have baby out, then push seat forwards with my knee, clip together and then allow to fall back into position. So the seat is fully pushed through with material corners facing back instead of forward, like in 04.42 of this video:

There aren't any goodvideos for the navigator on you tube buy They adjust the seat at 4.30 ish in this video. They seem to use the clips to hold seat in a reclined position too..
