Has anyone used the Stokke Scoot from newborn?

I love the look of the Stokke Scoot, and the fact that it can be used until kids are three-years-old. But when I saw pics of it "down", so that a newborn could go in it, it didn't look so cosy. The baby didn't look completely flat, either.

I asked someone at The Baby Show on the Stokke Stand about how comfortable it is for newborns - and his reply was "Well it's obviously ok for newborns as we had to go through strict regulations!". He was very friendly - but that wasn't exactly the answer I was looking for!

Did anyone use it from newborn? And what did you think of it?

I'd be very interested to know of other peoples' experiences too!

Have you seen that they now have the Softbag for the Scoot? A lot of people were complaining that it didn't look very secure for a newborn so they came up with this sort of cocoon insert. You can see plenty of photos of the Softbag on Google images and the babies look a lot more comfortable and secure in it.

I had a scoot, wasn't a big fan tbh. DS hated the recline, it only has the upright or full recline and no footrest, he couldn't get comfortable to nap in it. I also found the handling pretty poor for something that expensive. Oh and it was heavy. Great compact fold though!

The issue with the Scoot is that there is no mid recline which once you get using it, you realise how ridiculous this is. Its not so bad with an older child who either wants to be sat upright or is asleep, but with a younger baby who needs a bit of a recline, not having one would be frustrating. I certainly would not have sat my 6-12 month old all the time in a bolt upright sleep when awake.
Its also really tricky to 'post' the baby into the laid flat seat - or to remove them - without waking. The opening into the cave like recline is hard to access especially when the seat is parent facing and thus you have the handlebars to get around too.

Then there is the issue of no leg / calf support for a slightly older sleeping baby. Children look so uncomfortable asleep in it.

Its heavier than you think too.

I liked it, but I have a toddler. I would never recommend it for a child from birth because the recline / leg rest / access is not good enough for every day use and comfort of an older baby IMHO.
