When did you move DC from drop down bit to seat in a P&T double?

My 3 month old DS is too long for the basket that fits in to the drop down section. He's quite a chunky and sturdy little thing but it feels too soon to strap him in to the main seat. However

Aarg, posted too soon! Meant to say, however I'm getting bored of having to push my 2 yo and carry the baby in a sling everywhere.

What age/weight did you move yours? It's a Phil and teds explorer with doubles kit.

4 months or so? But kept dd quite reclined in the top main seat. If you have the front seat reclined and clip on the back seat for toddler, toddler cannot actually fit in! So doesn't solve your problem (unless you can get the 2 year old to walk)

Thanks CR. the 2 yo would love to walk but unfortunately has no interest in walking in the direction of where we're actually going, so he needs to be strapped in for all but the shortest trips for a while yet!

I was thinking sometime between 4-5 months might be feasible, but not being able to recline is a bit of a nuisance...

Was about 3/4 months with mine, but had it reclined as much as it could go.

He was getting really frustrated not being able to see anything tucked under, and very cramped too.

I am pretty sure DS was about 3.5mths with no problems. He started to hate the carrycot as couldn't see anything. He loved being in the seat. But he's always been strong- able to hold head up at birth so I knew he could support himself fully.

CreatureRetorts · 05/08/2013 19:50

I did prop her up a bit more once she started to sit up - around 5/6 months?

You could get a second hand maclaren and use a buggy board? Baby in maclaren, toddler on buggy board. Swap baby into sling and toddler in maclaren to mix it up a bit.

I assume you have tried the baby in the newborn position but not in the cocoon - with blankets to pad the seat out if necessary?
Its not advised but a Hammerhead seat would fit onto the Explorer which would give you a lower seat recline.
