Apologise for anybody who is looking for product reviews but I really need to get this off my chest. As a massive Royals fan, i'm gutted that there are rumours about Kate buying a Bugaboo, a dutch product, when her and William are supposed to be 'british business ambassadors'. With the recession still going on, all british businesses need a helping hand.

I've been following the royals for so many years, ii was in london for the wedding 2 years ago, and last year for the diamond jubilee. Absolutely love them all to bits but gutted to hear this when i woke up.

Really hope these rumours aren't true!

They probably have enough vintage silvercross prams to open a museum.

What it says about her is that she needs something maniable in RL on a daily basis, because she will be the primary user.
i suppse the nannies can still dust the silvercrosses for photo OPs?

YABU

K8Middleton · 30/04/2013 11:49

Meh. I couldn't care less what buggy we buy her she gets .

She should get a sling Wink

Just kidding. I honestly don't care. I have my own life thanks. And a Bugaboo.

milk · 30/04/2013 12:36

but will she upgrade to the Buffalo in the Autumn?!?

CruCru · 30/04/2013 17:22

Presumably she can have as many buggies as she wants (and has somewhere to keep them all).

ThePathanKhansAmnesiac · 30/04/2013 17:44

I,d get a pimped up Silver Cross if i were her, .

But I know what you mean OP, my life is now over.Grin

superdadAndy · 01/05/2013 15:49

I think it is worth pointing out that most prams and pushchairs that are thought to be 'British' are actually made in China.

Keepthechangeyoufilthyanimal · 01/05/2013 16:09

Mamas and papas aren't british, in fact superdadAndy is spot on, other than the balmoral big coach prams by silver cross, every single brand you've mentioned are made in china or thailand, Bugaboo included.

Does it really matter where their head office is based?

givemeaclue · 01/05/2013 18:32

Big silver cross chariots are the pram of choice for the traveller community.

deepfriedsage · 01/05/2013 18:43

Lilly Cole and Natalie Cassidy have silvercross chariots. What did Dianna have?

AngiBolen · 01/05/2013 18:49

I imagine the Royals already have a shed full of Silvercorss prams.

Still18atheart · 01/05/2013 19:09

Apart form Silvercross what other British pram makers are there?

I can't imagine that a Silvercross would be that practical walking the dog on the beach at Anglesey.

Longdistance · 01/05/2013 19:16

I reckon she'll have a sling rather than a buggy, and keep baby close.

HoneyDragon · 01/05/2013 19:27

Mamas & papas are Italian.

None of the British brands of pushchair mentioned are manufactured in the UK.

Speaking as a totally shit hot British Manufacturer who has probably infiltrated your life in some way, we're cool with it Grin

Keepthechangeyoufilthyanimal · 01/05/2013 21:21

Off the top of my head, baby style, Maclaren & silver cross started out in Britain, but none of them are actually made here.(Though the heritage silver cross coach prams are still put together and hand sprung in Britain, but I think the parts are made in china) speaking from an insiders point of view here Wink

FatimaLovesBread · 01/05/2013 23:09

Mamas and Papas are British although probably made in China. The founders were born in Italy but were brought up and live in Huddersfield

lollydollydrop · 01/05/2013 23:14

6 weeks, not 6 months

HoneyDragon · 01/05/2013 23:27

Mamas and papas are a British company. They cannot claim to manufacture any of thir products. Their original pushchairs are peg peregos, later they sold them with M&P on rather than Peg. But Peg Peregos were Itian design and manufacture, and were around a long time before M&P.

HoneyDragon · 01/05/2013 23:29

However I wouldn't get a Pliko or Venezia pre dating 2012 as they have all been recalled. So Kate if you're reading stick to Bugaboo Grin

Longdistance · 01/05/2013 23:49

Why has the pliko been recalled?

HoneyDragon · 01/05/2013 23:55

Certain models of the P3 and the Venezia were recalled by Peg under their brand. A little boy died of strangulation getting caught under the tray, another incident happened with a little girl who survived Sad, the model numbers can be googled. Both incidents occurred with children under 12 months who were no strapped in, so he harnesses were loose.

I think it was models produced between 2004 - 2008

FatimaLovesBread · 02/05/2013 09:25

But Mamas and Papas don't just sell Peg products, that is how they started but they sell their own too that they design. Although I'm presuming they are manufactured elsewhere.
But regardless I'd still say buy a bugaboo as M&P customer services can be shit

HoneyDragon · 02/05/2013 10:02

That's right Fatima. They are a British Company, but not British Manufacturers.
(Can you tell the distinction is very important to me Grin)
And agree wholeheartedly, M&P don't do customer service.
