Heeeeellllppp! Pushchair/pram quandary!!!!

Hello ladies, there seem to be some very knowledgeable helpful people on this site so I am desperately hoping someone can help a clueless mum to be!!!! I am trying to choose a pushchair/ pram but can't quite seem to decide where my priorities need to be!!! I have 2 large dogs so dog walking is something I will be doing daily, I drive so WON'T need to be worried about using it on public transport but I also need to get something to use on a plane as my husband at times works overseas so will be going to visit :-)
My friend reckons I will need 3 pushchairs??? A 3 wheeler, maybe second hand?, an umbrella one (maclaren xt????) plus another travel system???? I am looking at the vista, strawberry, peach, apple, versa GT and the june but so far have only tried out the vista...... I prefer the look of the more matte chrome rather than polished chrome look of the icandys but seem to be going around in circles..... We may go for another bubba soonish after the new arrival in june but who knows- have no idea if this should be a major consideration or not or whether to deal with that if, as and when???? Apologies for the long post but plllleeeaaasseeeeee help :-s

I have iCandy peach jogger (it's a 3 wheeler with the matt chrome) had it with carry cot and my car seat clipped in. I love it. Never ha any problems with it and does everything I need it to. But I did shop around to find something perfect for us!

I wouldn't worry too much about prospective further children before the first one arrives, of all the things you mention that'd be my first thing off your list to go.

I do kind of agree that more than one might be in order, one for travel, one for day to day but it depends on what your requirements are in terms of features maybe.

Beyond that ummmm... the peach jogger is a more matte chassis i think so could work for you. Beautiful pushchair although it may depend on the nature of your dog walks whether you would want to inflict them on it. Personally i might dog walk with a sling but not having any dogs that's pure speculation!

Other thoughts maybe a nipper 360 with a carrycot. That could be a really practical choice maybe for a one buggy set up. More utilitarian looking though, dunno if that bothers you. Plus no parent facing option after carrycot is outgrown.

What do you think, do you anticipate using same pushchair to dog walk as doing everything else? I'm sure it's possible but not everyone would want to.

What about the Maclaren XLR? An umbrella fold, which also turns into a travel system with the recaro car seat and also holds a carrycot for lay flat walks.

I have one, purchased befpre dd was born and she is now 1.1 and I still love it and know I will never need another pushchair. Its robust and comfortable

Great! Thanks loads..... Excellent point Ihateparties...... Should have said that initially yes, and for as long as poss, I will use a sling. I don't have the best/strongest back in the world due to a prolapsed disk a few years ago.... Most of the time not too much of an issue however but thinking There will come a point where I won't be able to carry LO, maybe I should worry about that later then and look at the nipper as and when I may need it???? Wouldn't ideally want to use the same pushchair day to day as getting muddy from walking???? Will def look into the peach jogger and xlr- thanks MortifiedAdams :-). Loving this forum/mumsnet and having somewhere to go for advice.... :-)

Just going back I only have the peach jogger and ten months in I'm not looking into a second (as a lot of my friends are ) I do 2 dog walks a day and the pram does get muddy. Well the frame more than anything. But it all clips apart really easy. Wheels pop out one handed and it has 1 handed fold. Getting back to the point I pull it apart once a week and wipe it down and it looks good as new.

But like everything why works for one person doesn't another!

Also- does anyone know how the apple compares to the peach jogger as apparently they can have 3 or 4 wheels and can upgrade to pear? Thanks again.....

The nipper 360 is a good idea. Just back from skiing and a couple of people were flying with them as they fold in one piece so can still go to the gate ( and obv good in snow as well as mud/ sand etc)

Nope im not looking for a second as it would be a waste of money. Peach jogger is perfect for our walks, fits in the boot and fine on the bus so no need for another

mumtobe01 - the Peach Jogger is a far nicer pushchair. It costs a small fortune to upgrade to the Pear - its practically cheaper just to buy the Pear new again (or certainly second hand!).

Thanks Tiggywinkle. I guess a double is a whole different ball game and one I will have to look into if and as and when!!! More brain ache to look forward to!!- aaaarrrggghhh! Main pushchair sorted- next stop- umbrella stroller!

I'd get a Mountain Buggy if I were you. They are virtually indestructible, come with carrycot, tough enough for a plane and perfect for dog walking.

Anyone got any views on mountain buggies and also umbrella folding pushchairs? Not looked into either of these....

You wouldnt actually need an umbrella also if you brought something that folded in one as main buggy such as mountain buggy or nipper v2

Umbrella folds - hmm a trusty Maclaren or I have a Kiddy City 'N Move which is really good spec. However I would suggest you look at a Baby Jogger City Mini for travelling with.
I wouldnt take a Mountain Buggy or Nipper on a plane personally!

Thanks- having looked at a mountain buggy and nipper 360 thought they looked a bit big to travel with? Tiggywinkle- do you prefer your kiddy city n' move to a maclaren? Assume baby jogger would have to go in hold but umbrella one may go in locker or wardrobe?

I love my BJCM for travelling. The one handed fold is ace at the skygates.

Oh and all prams will be put in the hold. I'm yet to find an airline which lets you actually take the pushchair onto the plane.

The nipper 360 folds into a carry bag fine for plane travel. Just not tiny.

And at £215 for pram if it does break it isn't as disastrous ( we travel with bugaboo cameleon on flights in bag and has never broken in prob 30 flights so you would be unlucky if it did)

Just an idea seeing that a recline umbrella such as Maclaren xlr is £200 anyway.

Hi Tiggywinkle- would you recommend the kiddy city n' move over a maclaren? Just had a look at the bjcm too- looks great but maybe bulker than an umbrella fold? Also as fas as bjcm goes would you go gt or 'standard'model? Thanks loads for info re icandy peach jogger- going to order it :-) have been hearing that the parasols and clamp for cup holders aren't worth the money??? Any thoughts? Thanks loads :-)

I can't answer your question about which umbrella fold to choose - I think its up to your personal choice TBH. THe BJCM is more square than an umbrella fold, but its not as long, so fits some cars / stores better. Its easy to carry too.
I would go for a GT every time re a BJCM / BJCMGT just for all the extras like the adjustable handlebar, bigger seat, longer footrest etc. as well as the wheels.
Dont buy a parasol - its a huge waste of money. Look at the iCandy Palm if you need a sun shade. My Peach cupholder kept falling off too. I used a Baby Jogger parent console on my Peach handlebar and it was fab.
