What to clean a Maclaren XLR with?

So I bought a fantastic Maclaren XLR second-hand on eBay a wee while ago. Put the detachable bits through a wool wash and they look great - eg liner (which I stitched and repaired too), foot muff. And I bought a new harness and I got a new carrycot for it.

Going to wash/clean the frame itself today, and the hood - ie non-detachable. What can I use to clean it!? I emailed Maclaren and they said to sponge down with a gentle detergent. Errr so would a tub of hot water and washing up liquid, and wash/sponge/rub with a kitchen sponge do the trick? Or do I need something more industrial?

Presume then I'll microfibre it dry and leave out on the balcony of my apartment to dry. Should I Febreeze it too? It smells a bit musty.

I always just use ariel powder and give it a good scrub then rinse off to avoid white patches my second hand quest came up lovely.

Thanks fishy - in the name of third trimester laziness I detached the hood, put it in a pillowcase and have bunged it in the washing machine on wool/handwash cycle Blush

Have put it in with a couple of capfuls of wool wash liquid, if it's still dirty I'll run it through again with bio.

The rest of the the chassis was pretty easy to clean and dry with washing up liquid and soapy water!

Ok looks a bit grubby still so am going to rewash at 40 degrees with bio liquid.

But it and my washing machine are completely unscathed! Put it on 400 spin just to be careful.

Yup. I've put everything through the washing machine a few times. No problems at all and its all come up sparkling. Sometimes the real grub on the hood just won't come out though - its the wheels-to-hood thing!
