Maclaren Twin Techno or Obaby Apollo Twin?

Hi
Our DTs are coming up to 9 months and we're thinking of going on an overseas holiday next month (gulp!) so I am looking at buying a lightweight umbrella fold buggy (we have an iCandy peach which I don't think I can/want to take on a plane). Also to be used for frequent weekend trips to see grandparents as once they grow out of their car seats then we have to take main seats with us too and these take up too much boot space.

I like the look of the Maclaren Twin Techno, but I have also come across the Obaby Apollo which also looks good and is a bit cheaper too. Does anyone have experiences, positive or negative of either of these two buggies?

Thanks in advance

I would get a BJCMD personally. With the wheels off it will slide on top of your luggage easily and the wheels would then fit in a footwell or gap.

I have the maclaren techno (single though, not twin) and whilst I love it for many reasons...it's solid, well made and my ds looks comfy in it, when folded it is very long. I have a small boot (polo) but it still seems to take up loads of space in dh's car (golf) We have bought a iCandy peach for when dc2 arrives and I was amazed at the fold of the chassis when we tried it in our boot. Even the sales woman was surprised at how long the maclaren was when we whipped it out of the boot to make room (they only sell "big" prams at the shop we went to)

Have you looked at the baby jogger city mini? They have a fantastically flat fold and if you're taking abroad (in the hold) they come up fairly often in eBay which you may not mind being bashed a little (as opposed to splashing out on a new one?)

No idea about the obaby though, sorry.

Thanks all.
The BJCM is a bit more than I wanted to spend, especially as I was planning to upgrade my Peach to the new version at a cost of c£200. Which is why I was looking at the budget end.
If I was to buy on ebay presume I would get the older model. Does anyone know what is new in the 2012 BJCM model?

Now I am in two minds - whether to
(1) upgrade icandy and buy a cheapo umbrella fold, then sell icandy in a couple of years time (my original plan) or
(2) sell the icandy now and get a BJCM ie just have the one pram instead.

Decisions decisions!

I have to buy 2 new car seats and 2 new cots (as we have stupid bloom small cots) - and I though all the expense was behind us now!!

Thank you, looks like a bargain (but not such great reviews!)

I would get the 2011 model anyway - because there are issues with the 2012 seats on the singles - I dont know yet about the doubles. The 2011 also has the sit upright straps.
Long term you will get more money back on a Baby Jogger than you ever will on an umbrella fold.

I love my Maclaren techno twin but it is heavy & bulky when folded (although v easy to push around when up). Haven't tried the other one to know how they compare.
