I love the iCandy strawberry at the moment but got a quote back from John Lewis that nearly gave me a heart attack! So the quote includes ;

Stroller and seat
Carrycot
Two flavour packs to go with above
Maxi cosi pebble
Stage 2 isofix base

All costing just over £1k

Is that reasonable ?! Anyone manage to get above for iCandy strawberry cheaper ? I can try get JL to price match ......

Problem is that iCandy don't allow retailers to advertise their prices online so you can't compare

We got an iCandy peach blossom with 2x carrycots, 2x toddler seats, 2 x car seats and whilst I don't want to say the price, it was about 10%-15% less than the John Lewis price quoted from baby nest in Croydon.

Over 9 years ago I paid about £500 for my (then) top of the range mamas and papas 3 in 1 system and that did not include the carseat as it was a gift from a family member.

I had 3 kids and used it almost daily for nearly 8 years so was worth every penny.

Paid £60 for a maclaren quest in a sale and it (just) lasted the required 8 years but after several trips abroad and being slung in and out of cars it is well and truly on its last legs!

I know it quite cheeky of them to quote separately for the 'flavour packs'.... They do it as if u had a choice to not have them?!?!

Ahhh looking for a travel system is doing my head in... Who would have thought it be so complicated !!!!

Thats a how long is a piece of string question!
You can buy a travel system very cheaply or you can buy a top end pushchair like the Strawberry - or an even more expensive pushchair like a Mima Xari or Foppapredretti - its your choice!
Most independent retailers would offer you a package deal - not many will discount the actual Strawberry pushchair, but may throw in a car seat or other accessories free or cheaper.
Personally, if you buy an expensive pushchair, just make sure you buy from a reputable retailer and get good warranties. You also will get a good chunk of money back upon resale - keep the boxes, instructions etc safe.

I paid £60 for a second-hand Jane Solo, with pushchair, car seat and carrycot. I then paid an extra £30 for a new raincover.

But I'll be selling it soon - need something smaller and more 'off-road' worthy.

If I had 1K to spend on my baby, I'd put it into a high-interest bank account for him.

I spent £800 on a a Jane trider, stupid money and in hindsight I wouldn't do it again although through pram itself is faultless, I use my Jane energy umbrella fold all the time so my pram only got about 6 months use.
