Hi

I posted a while back re the quinny zapp xtra and a maxi cosi seat. Anyway since then I have bought the maxi cosi seat and put a deposit onto the zapp. However, I was thinking do I really need a travel system?, can I buy a nice sliver cross buggy that lies back from birth and have a separate car seat. I always think then I have to wake the baby up when I am moving them from the car to the buggy. So can I ask you guys in your experience, is it really important to have a car seat click onto a pram, or is it possible to have a car seat and then a separate buggy like the silver cross one.

Please I would appreciate all views and thanks in advance

I was never fussed about car seat clicking into the buggy but the stroller I wanted had a car seat that was compatible should I need so as I was buying one anyway why not have the option just incase. Ive used it maybe 4 times (in 6months) BUT I hardly ever use my car so if I used the car lots then I would have clipped seat i a lot more.

When you drive for 45 mins somehwere thinking dc will fall asleep on the journey and they dont shut eye til 5mins before you arrive you may just appreciate being able to leave them in the seat.

If you walk everywhere go for the lie flat pram.

It depends if you use your car a lot.

I used my Zapp loads as a travel system - but from experience I wouldnt mix using the Zapp with a car seat at the same time as using the Zapp chassis with Xtra seat. If you do, you need to have a system to keep the small seat adaptors safe. We lost ours and they cost £30 to replace which was a bit ouch given the price of the pushchair. I always advise people to buy two chassis - one for each purpose because you can pick second hand chassis up really cheaply - often less than the price of the adaptors. Plus used chassis are much looser and easier to fold and unfold.

The Maxi Cosi car seat is fab - whatever, I wouldn't swap that. First of all its light weight and when you have a 12 month old in the seat, you will be glad you bought a light seat. Secondly its compatible with so many other pushchairs that if you did decide to buy a bigger comfier pushchair later, it will go on many other chassis'. There's far better than Silver Cross pushchairs BTW :D
