I think I'm in love - BJCM!

I've spent hours a while perusing the threads about the BJCM, and the more I read, the more I want one!
I saw one in the flesh for the first time on saturday, had a play around and loved it. But at the time I wrote it off because I want a pushchair I can plonk the carseat onto for the school run.
Then, when looking again on t'internet, I found that you can get adapters for various carseats and there's a carrycot available too! Grin
So, decision made.

However, I was wondering if anyone here who has/had a BJCM has used it with a carseat and/or the carrycot, and if you can let me in on your experiences before I finally take the plunge and order one.

TIA [busmile]

Yes, I have used a car seat on a BJCM but not a carrycot. My advice to be honest would be to get the 4 wheel version for using a car seat on. Its more stable. I am not saying the 3 wheel version is unstable, but at times I did feel that it felt tippy especially if you push one handed or have to do a sharp turn eg when you load the car seat on and turn to shut the car door and walk away. I swapped my 3 wheeler for the 4 wheeler and much prefer it although as I said the 3 wheeler is still good [busmile]

Meanwhile there should be a choice of 3 carrycots for the BJCM. There is currently the compact carrycot and hard bodied carrycot. They will soon be joined (if they haven't been already) by the Compact plus carrycot which is a small bit bigger. I did have the catalogue kicking around somewhere with the sizes in if you needed them. But someone on here has the hard bodied carrycot and said they found it a little bit high up. Their photos are here I know the two compact carrycots (and I think the hard bodied too) can be used with the fabric in situ, but if you have no plans to use the seat unit to begin with, then the BJCM does look like a nice pram with the fabric stripped off and the carrycot attached to the chassis. It's easy to remove the fabric and you simply move the pull handle to the other side of the fabric to maintain the easy fold.

Just to also add, have you seen BJCMGT which has just arrived in the UK. Although, yes its a 3 wheeler, its got the off road advantages, a bigger seat, a handbrake, and adjustable handlebar and more compared to the BJCM! Here are the BJCM and BJCMGT side by side

Just one final tip, if you do get the hard bodied carrycot, invest in the plug in other car seat adaptors (you can use the carrycot adaptors) because they are simpler to use as they just plug in.

The BJCM is a fabulous pushchair that really does last from birth to pre-school (and beyond should you need). I love all the options. And no I dont work for Baby Jogger but I think I have had all but one of their pushchairs now lol They just do the job brilliantly!

Hi agree with everything Tiggy said. I originally said i didn't find the 3 wheeler tippy with car seat on but I'm using it with pushchair fabric on I am finding it harder to push one handed and more tippy.

The hard bodied carrycot is high on the frame. At 5ft2 I found it hard to see ahead when carrycot hood up!

Ps when is baby due. Can you hold out for a Versa?

CervixWithASmile · 09/04/2012 19:02

Sorry to crash the thread but I'm thinking of buying a compact carrycot imminently but have seen the compact plus mentioned above - I can't find any more information on this or availability and wanted to see if anyone knows?

Give Kooltrade a call tomorrow (or a BJ retailer) and ask. The dimensions are in the new catalogue but I am stuck with a sleeping baby on my knee at the minute (which is preferable to getting in the way of my furniture removing husband who feels ths is a good time of night to start laying a rug down), so can't look at present. I don't know any dates anyway :)

CervixWithASmile · 09/04/2012 21:09

Thank you, that's a good idea, I'll do that. I've found Babyjoggers website itself the least useful of all websites for info about their own products!

edwardcullensotherwoman · 12/04/2012 14:19

Thanks everyone :)

Those pics are good Tiggy , it definitely looks better with carrycot and no fabric. Is the fabric easily removed and replaced? I've seen the 4 wheeler but not sure I like it as much. Tbh I'd only be putting the carseat on for the school run/in and out of the shop.

I'm wobbling a bit now though; I had a Maclaren Dreamer delivered this morning, which I bought for my mum to have at her house, but I love it and am soo tempted to keep it myself now! But I also really want a Baby Jogger Confused Confused

Hi ya. Yep the fabric is easy to remove and not too difficult to put on.

I am now finding it tippy as I have put fabric back on and often use car seat on top. DD is 5 mths old and approx 14lbs.

edwardcullensotherwoman · 12/04/2012 23:13

Thanks lagoon , that's good to know.

I have another question - can a Maxi Cosi Citi be fitted to the adaptors? And what other models can be used, and do they need different adaptors? I'm so confused with all the info, and baby jogger's UK website is, as Cervix pointed out, useless!

I've had a google and yes I think a citi can fit.

Also baby jogger do there own carseat which just plugs in- no adaptor.
I think there is adaptors for the recaro young profit

edwardcullensotherwoman · 13/04/2012 01:01

Thanks! I've been googling for days, think I just confused myself with an overload of info!

That's interesting about the BJ carseat, I'll have a look for that.

I think the BJ car seat got held back as they are trying to make a base for it. But ask your retailer.

Late follow up on this but I spoke to Kooltrade and they told me the compact plus isn't due out till late summer and they had no further info than that. So no good for me due in May..
